Title: DR500 valve clearances
Post by: steve234 on July 14, 2009, 10:32:59 am
Does anyone know what the valve clearances are supposed to be. Can any gains be made by different adjustments?

Cheers,
Steve

If you can get feeler gauges in go for it..... cold setting IN & EX  0.08 - 0.13
This need to be done with mag cover off
Rotate mag until  T  is aligned with hole on crank case
Dial in your cam  inlet opens  28 degrees BTDC           inlet close  64 degrees ABDC
                       Exhaust opens 68 degrees  BBDC      Exhaust close  24 degrees ATDC

  *  TDC = Top Dead Centre        B= Before    A = After
      BDC = Bottom Dead Center

While your at it  - adjust Balance chain   ....remove sprocket cover and mag cover ( mag runs in oil ) so drain oil
Adjuster is below mag and above bottom engine bolt ( internal )
