Purple Polish, at all good auto shops. ;)

Are you just cleaning them to be presentable or are you doing a resto.
If you are doing a resto get NOS or such.
If you are cleaning to be presentable continue doing what you are doing. Maybe use a buff wheel on the large areas and a Dremel for the fiddly bits. You can us a commercial polisher but they will use brute force and a 5hp buff wheel that will change the profile of the detail bits.

MX250,
I am doing it to make them presentable as part of the resto, The rims are in good condition over all no large chunks or cracks. They Just need a good scrub. Purple Polish hey mmmm I might have to go for a wonder at lunch time.
NOS rims would be nice but I don't think the funds will allow for it, as the rest of the bike is going to be better than new. At a later date I might go NOS, mud chatcher rims.
Cheers
