Not being a wiseco man could someone enlighten me as to the sizing. Would I be assuming correctly if I figured 20thou over (P2) would be 0.50mm, 40thou (P4) 1mm over, 60thou (P6) 1.50mm and P8 or 80thou would be 2mm ???
Could someone confirm if my assumptions are correct? Thanks

Doc
Go to the bottom of the serco site .....It explains it in there somewhere.
I have sent you an email to their site poxy security settings will not allow me to down load the file ah humbug

I s'pose I shoulda thought to look there ::) thanks Stew. I got a bargain on ebay and i just wanna make doubly sure I haven't fouled things up as this luck doesn't come my way too often ;D I emailed the PDF wiseco catalogue to you last night ;)

hmmm.. :-\ I couldn't find the specific details I require on the Serco site oldfart. Not to worry, I'm hoping my math is still okay cause I work it out to about 20thou = 0.508mm so a P6 kit would be 1.524mm over :P math was never one of my strong points ::)

100% correct Doc......but there are 2 schools of measurement first is 40thou per mm the other is 39thou per mm. ;D ;D

If you had two pistons for the same engine, and one was 0.040" oversize, and the other was 1.00mm oversize, I'd bet that they were the exact same size (allowing for manufacturing tolerances, of course).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drill_bit_sizes
Halfway down the page mate/
is a nice already done conversion chart
0.020 0.508
0.040 1.016
0.059 1.511
0.079 1.994

Thanks ppl's :) this is all good news regardless..my little TM which is on a well worn 1mm over now will live to play another day! ;D
I have to gloat..I picked up a P6 single ring TM Wiseco kit for $24 + $12 postage on egay. Not a soul bid except moi so what I saved pays for the boring ;D

Nice pickup Doc. I wish I'd seen that, although these days I force myself to stay away from TM searches on eBay, otherwise I'll be the owner of a $10,000 TM in no time. Mind you there seems no shortage of CR pistons, I have bought several of these recently for very reasonable prices.
-
don't you mean the owner of a second $10000 TM Graeme :P :D
I do normally keep an eye on TM/TS/CR piston and more often than not I'll put a token bid on if it's a lower start price and let it run. Normally these items end up in my 'Items Not Won' folder which I clear regularly (just so I don't get emotional about the things I really wanted but missed out on :'( ) but..much to my delight when I checked back on this item it wasn't where I thought it would be. more arse than class ;)
