wow, Casey Stoner - World Champ, Holeshot to flag and on home turf.
could it get any better. Well done Aussie !

Even has a good chance of equaling Mick D's record of 10 wins in a season. It ain't the tyres the HP or the electronics it's the rider. All at 21 years old and still a likeable country lad. Best bit he matched and 'broke' Rossi's long held psychological edge.LEGEND ;D

Mick Doohans record is 12 wins in a season, and that was with a 15 race season not 18 like this year

What gets me is how the hell do they achieve 20,000 rpm out of a four stroke ??? and doing 330 km/h

Well i made it back to the real world , Awesome weekend typical island weather (thirsty) but the kid can ride he stood out like dogs balls every session he looked like he was on a different track . Westy looked good and Chris V although they were struggling with setup . Biggest crowd in the campgrounds since Mick was there and it was full up on friday . A standout was seeing Pedrosa flip his bike doin a practice start as 1st is good for around 170kph they take a bit to get off the line .The superbikes and supersports were all good races too. Anyway lots of laughs,Lots of Beers and Heaps of great racing.

I saw Casey asked how he compared to Mick, he appeared to get shitty and said you can't compare. Maybe what he should have said was come back and see me if I get 6 world titles. The Tele coverage was a bit overboard about the "New world order" of young guns, Casey only has something like another 60? wins to get level with Valentino?
The kids good and I spose you can't put an old head on young shoulders, might be good viewing next year if the other teams get competitive bikes and tyres.

Your apparent disappointment at Stoner's response to the Doohan question says more about the woeful calibre of the ch 10 telecast than a reflection on him. And he is right, you can't compare eras, you wouldn't ask him to compare himself to Hailwood, Stanley Woods or anyone from the past. Remember, when Mick retired Casey was 14. As for the New World Order (ch 10 again, God they are tragic), with Lorenzo and Dovi coming up, Checa gone, and the other manufacturers playing catch-up fast, I reckon next season will be an absolute scorcher. Also, the boy has been racing since he was a nipper, worked his way through 3 GP classes, has woven together a mature (and dnf-free ) season, won the title, been married, and is only 22 today ! Cut him some slack, and be proud for the moment. Let history worry about the number of wins and all the other irrelevant stats.

Well said.
The most outstanding feature of the season is how Ducati 'hit he ground running' (and how the Japanese 'dropped the ball').
Ducati is the best team; every aspect of the team is working to perfection. Best bike, best tyres, best electronics, best rider and then they work together to set up and get the best combination to get the best race set up. This is why they are dominant.
But it is Casey that is the critical factor. You can assume that Casey relates to his team, gives accurate clear feed back and can adapt to things that can't be changed. Compare his season to his more experienced and fancied teammate.
Casey is the best on the bike and off the bike. His personality and character, as much as his physical talents and pyschological strength, mean that he will be at the top of the MotoGP tree for sometime. He may even dominant for several seasons. This year is no fluke.
I predict that he will continue to 'smoke 'em' for the remaining 2 races. Casey is such the comsumate racer he knows he wants his competitors wasting their off season thinking 'what do I have to do to beat this guy'.
I predict that he will do 'back to back' Championships. ;) ;D

It was great to be there and see an Australian World Champion win the Australian GP. Didn't see too many VMX bikes there though!

Business must be good , making pipes for old bikes & HL frames, for GMC to be major sponsor of the Phillip Island event.

Get a life Freaky. Who gives a flying fart about copyright. Trust me when I tell you these things.
-
Yeah, most people don't understand copyright or why it exists.
Simply, this bloke has probably travelled to the track and spent anything up to a couple days trying to get a decent image to get paid and feed his family. Then when the image gets stolen, especially a good one like this is, it's very hard to then sell. Magazines like exclusivity and if the image has already been seen halfway around the world, it's not worth very much any more.
I guess it's kinda like doing the best week's work you've ever done, then getting told at the end that you're not getting paid.
So copyright law helps to protect him and allow him to make a living.

Thanks Tony, good you can explain that to good ol' Dr phil, when its your business and lively hood on the line you would give a fart, flying or not.

All of that aside, it is a great shot. It would be so hard to come up with something that's a little different these days, but this guy has done it.
Who took it? I'd like to see more of what he does.
pm me if you'd rather not go public.
I always wanted to be a motorsport photographer. That's actually how I got started. But it seems just so hard to make a good living out of it. A lot easier to make money out of weddings and the wine industry, I reckon............ ;D
-
Damir, you should now him he was riding Road for a few years, gave me some awesome pics Back in the day here is one of my old bucket ( see below).Think hes branded as FV.com.au or maybe no au as in focal vision, i think he did the wedding, parties ,anything circuit and may still do it, but i think he likes the risk of spending $4k to travel to the circuit on the off chance he can make a shot pay.
i think your right i might pull the pic until he has hawed it out with his others, id hate to cost him his next mortgage payment.
Ill put some girls up in the meantime.
