Running a bit short of disk space, so I am disabling attachments. From now on to display images you'll need to post them somewhere else first, eg on one of the many image hosting websites.
Jock has previously posted an excellent guide on how to do all of this:

just send the webmaster a PM , and I am sure he will give you directions . Thats what I did. ( not " hock wares" , just to keep it going ) i know what cost to maintain a website , so a $1000 does not go far unless you do it in your own free time like Graeme does.
You are bloody brilliant Walter ---guess what I'll be doing at the Nats-you just gave me a job
......OZVMX Donations Tin......
cheers :-*

Graeme, could you set up a paypal payment, I'm one of the big byte users with posting photos all the time so I would like to help and make a donation towards the cost of the forum. I should have given you a donation at CD6 and now after posting up photos of CD6 I feel like an ass for not thinking of the cost you incur in the running of the website.
Let me know your paypal acc and I will gladly donate towards this site.

OZVMX CONTINUATION DONATION

Guys, the issue isn't the cost. The problem is my server host. And not because they are no good, more that they just don't offer a package with enough space. I was letting people attach images, but the images folder is now over 500Mb of my 1000Mb limit. Given there are so many image hosting sites around, I figured it was better to stop that and let people post their images on one of those and just link it in. The other option is to go offshore and use a US hosting service which has a lot more space for a lot less money. I can't add space to my existing setup cos I don't own the server, I just rent a package off them. I am no IT guru!
I've been thinking about going to one of these other hosting services, but the hassle of setting up the site there and migrating the domain and so on has stopped me doing it, but maybe it's worth thinking about in some way... I'll have to give it some thought.

I got my site going with a very lot of help from Graeme M and I have started with less hard drive than he has, but I see mine is heading fast to half full, so I might have to look at getting more disc space myself, I dont expect I will get as big as ozVMX anytime soon, so if I get more hard drive I hope to be ok for a long time yet as I have no idea how to go about setting up something better from oversea's.
Cheers Mick.

Graeme....I feel that I've been a part of the problem with my overly big photo files. It's largely my fault as I'm a bit unsure on how to make them any smaller.
As a short term quicky to gain back some space, why not delete the posts in the joke section after say a week as once you've read a joke.....well that's it's life over and in reality it has FA to do with what the forum is about anyway. Deleting much of the idle banter after a while would also free up a lot of space but the problem here is deciding what stays and what goes and finding the time to do it.
It's a bit unfortunate that the photo posting is not allowed any more as I reckon they give the forum a life and help explain the particular thread...e.g. the Budget bikes thread wouldn't have half of its impact without the accompanying photos. I had a ring around to the GOBs this morning and we'd be prepared to contribute a bit of cash if that's what it takes to enlarge the bandwidth. With the ever increasing membership and activity I think it's inevitable that you'll have to double the horsepower more sooner than later.

Most forums have 'life time member' ,'contibributor' or 'member' staus, usually sections such as classifeds/trade are blocked unless you contribute. If there was a once only contribution for lifetime status I'd be up for that, rather than have to do it every year.

Graeme M-
I don't mind being a NOVICE if you would like to delete all my posts except the most recent 10 pages and the first page set in August 2007. Might read a bit strange in some topics ,but ya get that. ::)
Hope this will help with more room ;D
