Title: Vincent Jawa hybrid outfit

I must confess that I am not much of a sidecar fan . But at the recent Broadford Bike Bonanza, I saw something that made me drag out my camera. It appears to be a Vincent bottom end with two single cam Jawa 500 speedway top ends grafted on to it. I would think that a bit of effort would have went into building it. Although I didn't get to hear it run , I imagine that it would go like stink .

i saw that outfit on the trailer as well , but i didn't notice the top end as you did. i tink Tim754 may be able to shed some light on this one possibly. it didn't see track time on the saturday.

did you see the supercharged vinnie outfir ridden by Ken Walker run? that was something else.

I only spent a short period of time at the dirt track , as motocross is more my thing, so I didn't get to see the supercharged Vincent on the track . The impression that I got from the weekend was that MA Vic regard road racers as the elite, with the dirt trackers as the next rung down on the ladder & the motocrossers as just scumbags .

yeah my thoughts as well. i only got one MX sesson in the arvo as they did not have enough flaggies to run the early session (at an MA event mind you). the dirt track was great spectating and i enjoyed that a lot. what were you riding on the MX track and what class?

I didn't even get to the road race to have an optic, i was way too busy catching up with many people.

Had me stumped too. Tried too get some info but unable to locate the owner. Very much a "bit of this and that " construction.

I rode a '77 Montesa VB360,on the Saturday, that I picked up in Brisbane on the way down. If the motocross track had been prepared properly, without all the stupid supercross/ modern bike style jumps, they wouldn't have needed half as many flaggies. In hindsight it was probably insane for us to drive that far to attend the Bonanza , but we were hoping that it would be like another Classic Dirt type event. Comparing The Bike Bonanza to Classic Dirt would be like comparing the Birdsville Races to the Melbourne Cup.

That's similar to what others have told me. Good analogy Mark  ;D
We're going to the Bonanza next year but will limit our involvement to just the dirt track. The Good 'ol Boys will be bringing just sliders and flat trackers as we're all too old to deal with the GP track on vintage bikes, not to mention the distance between the various venues making it a hassle to smoothly get from one dicipline to the other. We'll camp down at the dirt track/speedway and have a leisurely weekend.

In regards to the Vincent Jawa hybrid,a mate tells me that the bike was built by Len Dyson a few years ago with Jawa type 394 DOHC heads but at some stage has been fitted with later style SOHC heads. It's now owned by Darryl Reid. It's been doing the rounds of the speedway display days for years but nobody can recall seeing it run.
