hi,
Just got back from cd 6, had a ball can not believe the amount of bikes out for the weekend.
The only problem i have is a new bike after some trailer shuffling i have it back in bris vegas.
I think its a 71 frame with a 250 bottom end and a 400 73 top end ?
well out goes the xl 350 for the nats and the 400 is in.
Being new to the cz family just trying to obtain some information to get the bike back on the track.
The bike it self seems to be 90% the running gear seems ok and it has some good after market plastics, the only items which i need to get it running is some new electrics, it has a it 465 cdi set up in but it does not look to be in good nick i would like to change it out for a complete new set up.
I have ordered a work shop manual a clymer hope it will be a help.
Have started the read the cz forum it has a lot of information so i hope i will up and running quickly.
Thanks Chris.

400 top ends wont go on 250 bottom ends.

Hi hampster,
Where are you in Brisbane?

Chris yeah I think the 980 prefix on the case is a 250.I think you did tell me but did you measure the piston, the 250 piston should be around 69/70mm.I'd be interested in your old 465 ignition if you dont want it.Ther has been a bit of discussion about points and new cdi ignitions which might be the way to go.Brad put one in his 400.That thing was a great buy!
-
before youtake off the ignition can you take some pics of how it fits.also some step by srep of how the ignition fits but as you take bits off
cheers

Buy of the weekend!
Lucky for you there wasn't enough room on the truck!!
Buy an electronic ignition, the stator windings are their weak point.
Welcome my brother from another mother.

Hi,
Chris , the eng. No. is not the real CZ stamps , never ever been stamped on the right side , no biggy though, When you want to split the cases , Iv'e got a set case splitters/pullers to lend .
Check to see if they are matching cases, stamped on each half under the crank, outside , three digits , dont bother trying to build an unmatched set of cases until they are checked, by an engineer to guarantee they have "line bored"
Iv'e got an old spare parts book (FREE) , No you don't have to get a TATOO to belong to the brotherhood .
Cheers

hey chris did they tell you
about the secret handshake
and the goat ;D

Hi,
Have done more removal of the motor it is a 400 the bore is around the 84 mm mark on fourth over size new piston bored and honed, the porting matches the cases.
it also has a new rod installed and new bearings in the gear box the gears look new to me with the smell of packing grease still on them?
I have got my tattoo and the goat, the goat is a long hair does this make the gods happy.

Did anyone meet the guy with the trailer full of CZs,an underpipe canam and CR 125.These bikes looked well used but much loved and were wearing no 1 plates.I tried to catch him but never connected.
-
Just reading another thread:John Boag CZ nut.Apparently he was worked on by both Brad and Ji to try and separate him from one or other of his bikes but resisted all attempts.
-
Hampster, is this the one you bought? Sure looks nice.
-
If he purchased that for $3500.00 or less he has done well.

i was given a Mikuni carburator(pumper) "rare as" for free from this cool cool dude that was driving the bus with flames on it.
I think his name was Keith Partridge / David Cassidy , he used to be on TV , i think the show was called the Partridge family. i think he got to keep the bus as part of the deal.
Thanks Rusty , its gone to a good home.
