Does anybody know anything about the 250 type 997 in the pic below? Or have better pics?

JC I'm thinkin that catalogue may be from around 1980,and pretty interesting because it looks like Japanese.I've got a mate with a 513 model from 1990 which looks almost exactly the same except for the tank.I dont think a lot changed in the engine dept with these late models, but"modern" touches such as high pipe and long travel suspension are incorporated. Some of the US guys are still selling new ones on their websites.

Totally off the subject I know but doesn't that Jawa just look like it should have been on a page all to itself? Timeless...... :)

Production bike for 77/78 apparently. Wonder how many they sold. Probably lots if it had been 75/76!

Peter Meehan has an original ex Ivan Mauger CZ 250 997. The only stock and original one in the country that I know of. Reese Dengler is hassling me to hassle him for some better photos,
Cheers,
D.

I just picked up a 988 CeeZee 250 1973 it has original headlight, batterybox, speedo and a few other rare bits just doing a quick tidy up and hopefully riding it at the next round of heaven any body else got one or ridden one? supposed to be based on the motocross model its a very interesting, bike i'll try and attach a picture of a restored one and i'll post a photo of mine in a week or two when i finish putting it back together.

Bull,

The 988 had a wide ratio g'box w a rather large gap between 1st & 2nd, which wasn't helped by very tall gearing & the 'asmatic' pipe. Std c'shaft sproket was 18 or 19T.

However top 4 gears were much closer spaced.  I suggest you gear it down considerably & use (mostly) the top 4 gears on the track. Probably need a bigger carb too, & obviously a better pipe.
