Looking at getting hold of a MX250, 78-82, pre water bucket, haven't seen any around. do many come up for sale in the eastern states. Haven't seen one for sale over here in the west.
Is it easier to find a larger capacity or even a GS model, though we don't have vinduro's over here, well not yet.
Riding Pre75 at moment and loving it. But the pre 85's are now being placed on the support programmes of certain events. So thought I'd find something that goes well when i finish last (riding ability not bike)

Tossa,
Hard to find and most are badly worn. I found this 80 GS in a shed and it took some doing. Parts came from the US and knowledge came from Adrian at OzKTM, Denis and Bill from Heaven. Really worth the effort of doing one up though. And I don't think there is a lot of difference between the GS and the MC.

Might be worth a call to bendigo dirt bikes they seem to have access to a lot of old bikes... Michael is a good honest operator with reasonable prices

I actually have an '81 250 GS which is not too bad, but will need the full go. We pulled the top end off to find the piston & cylinder in very good condition, but the main bearings seized. Will sell it as it is if you're interested. From what I'm told there is very little difference between the GS and MX models as someone else has also stated. We have an '81 390 GS in MX trim and my mechanic has been racing it over here, and kicking some butt. The thing looks and goes great.
I also have acess to a '79 250 GS in race ready trim, but the owner wants a tad too much for it in my opinion. I can follow it up if you like.
Cheers,
K
