Title: DR/SP 500 Carb
Post by: steve234 on May 19, 2009, 08:15:44 am
Anybody suggest an alternative carb to the existing CV type on my SP 500 engine. I know the DR version had a Mikuni VM35ss but i have had a look at mikunioz and they don't appear to have them listed. Any suggestions on what to use and how to make it fit would be much appreciated.

Cheers, Steve.

I'd start with a XT 500 aftermarket 36mm mikuni, though if you are going to use the standard airbox you'll need to check external dimensions. Using an airbox tends to give you more low down power.
The suzuki engine probably isn't any more powerful than  an XT, test reports of the time didn't think it was much different to the DR400, as far as power goes!
So the overall breathing requirements shouldnt be too different.
