Yammy men.
I have in my brake plate pile a rear brake plate that was marked "early YZ" with question mark after.
It has "Magnesium" embossed on outside edge of the plate. Also the embossed number on the inside is 2x400. Any idea's as to what it is?

The info I have says YZ250F (79)

hey Quicky,
the brake shoe diameter should be around the 160mm mark and that backing plate was fairly common to quite a few models that came after the early YZ's {later YZ's and IT's etc}.
still a nice item though.

Thanks guys. Only thing I had to ID was what was written on it "Early YZ". I guess in the scope of things its still an early YZ , just not what we would referr to as early. ;)
Has no shoes Vandy. Anyone want it? $25. :) Shes got no chips or cracks but is bare with no fittings or shoes.
