ok i need some help here to ID some CDI units
Part # = 32900-40221
Part Description = CDI UNIT ASSEMBLY
Model Count = 1
RM125-T 1980
Part # = 32900-40220
Part Description = CDI UNIT ASSEMBLY
Model Count = 5
RM100N 1979
RM100T 1980
RM100X 1981
RM125-N 1979
RM125-T 1980
can any one with a 79/80 RM 100/125 have a look to see if they have the
32900-40221 or 32900-40220 printed on the CDI sticker
and see what colour wires they have
red/white
black/white (x2)
blue
black/red
white/blue
black/yellow
or has it got just
black/white (x2)
red/white
black/red
white/blue
black/yellow
ideally i would like to get one without a plain blue wire
Thanks :)

Why do you want one without the blue wire ?
I am told that the blue wire is simply a rev limiter wire although I dont actually know.
Why dont you just not conect the blue wire.
What are your thoughts behind this question ?
Do you want new or good condition working used. i might have one, I need to check.

i am told that putting a 79/80 RM100/125 CDI unit on a TS185 is the thing to do and makes them rev better as the stock unit doesnt alloy the 185 to rev freely
the wires on the TS are
black/white (x2)
red/white
black/red
white/blue
black/yellow
so if i get an RM unit the same its should just bolt on.
i have seen wiring diagrams of the RM units with the blue wire and the blue wire comes from a separate winding. for the best chances of this working i i should use a CDI with the same wires. I will scan some diagrams and put them on here.

Ok this top diagrame is for the TS 185
(http://fhq7hw.blu.livefilestore.com/y1pBwfK3UlOpMygq6N4bTGfMD3RKFNNbV3vE04PZsKsSXVSWloYjSWIwIXF1nSj0DZcxCFPaMu7y33UgUiIsnxLNA/TS185CDI087.jpg)
The next 2 are from a Haynes manual specifically for 79/80 RM's
the diagrames just say RM100 and RM125 but im not sure if the digrames are for the 79 or 80 model?
so ideally i would like one thats the same as what ever model that RM100 diagrame is representing but all the RM100 units ive seen so far do have the blue wire so i dont know if the diagrame is wrong? I wonder if i could just use one with the extra blue wire and not connect it and it will be fine? as there is no blue wire from the TS stator.
Do all the RM100 units have the blue wire but they havent shown it in the diagrame as its not used/connected?

have suzuki gone to a hi/low pulser coil like tt/xt600's?after all they can sence rpm's by the single pulse coil.my ts185 with rm125m pipe and kn airfilter has no trouble pulling out big revs and your er should have more port area than mine maybe you need to put in more holes in your airbox to let it breath.
TT5 Matt
-
yeah ive put holes in the air box cover :)
i would say no, these suzuki systems are nothing like TT/XT600. They have a little pulsar coil mounted ouseide the flywheel. The Ts has just a high and low speed coil under the flywheel.
a few guys on here have said that if you put a CDI off a smaller higher reving bike like a RM100/125 or maybe even an 80 they go better. Its been also suggested they are rev limited to 7000RPM and die in the arse at that point and i can sort of agree with that.
-
it doesnt matter where the pulser coil is mounted its only there to trigger the cdi box to fire the plug in a timed way
a mate had a pe400 and tried a pe175 cdi box and it went like a shower of shite, best way is suck it and see you might get the little smoker going!!
-
ahh yes maybe a PE175 CDI is the way to go then. One of those will have the rigth matchin wires and not an extra blue one that i would be left worring about if it will matter if its not connected. I migth still try and find a RM100 CDI that matches the above wiring digrame

ive got a early rm80 box if you wanted to try it just pay the post
-
thanks but nah not yet, bike is not going at the moment
