I was just re-reading that issue of VMX mag. What an absolutely beautiful bike.

How about this unmolested '74 CCM thats being restored for next years CD7. It's been sitting under the owners house since it was last ridden at the '95 Condo Greybeards meeting. The wheels are away being rebuilt.

The dog's Jonesys blue healer Jack. He's a sweet little bloke but I wish he'd stop trying to root my leg every time I go over there :o. What Cheney are you referring to Marc? Something in the background?

I have Cheney of same vintage with slightly forward facing shocks. Frames look pretty close.
-
Errr, It's not a Cheney, it's a '74 CCM Marc. There is a Cheney in the background but you'd have to be pretty good to spot it!

no I mean it looks the same as my Cheney JBR frame.

Nice bike but I don't think its worth $A32,000 Buy Now. Totally original, maybe ;).
As a barometer of American economy and confidence it might be interesting to keep an eye on it.
-
given what I have spent on bits lately it is probably worth every dime. ::)
-
sold like a hot cake..... the real sign of the economy is the really good stuff is coming back on to the market. Hard to keep those high end toys when the banking is about to screw the locks on your door. :o

I know where your coming from Marc but I own a JBR and have parked it next to Alans "basket case" 74 CCM and while they're similar in concept, are heaps different in design, especially in the bottom cradle.

Yeah my JBR frame is different again with the shocks forward mounted, I think the Cheney was different for sure, however there are heaps of variations in the Cheney frames made at the time.

Hi Mike
Yeah its the kind of dog you would like to bring home. One thing about CCM they arrived with all the good bits already in the motor.
Not sure I am buying into the CCM mystique though. Hopefully my Cheney will be ready to go before Xmas. ::)

At £6000 that's good value for a bike of that quality will all those nice bits. You certainly couldnt build one for that price, even if you hours rate was tuppance an hour.....
I wonder if it sold at £6K?
There is another one knocking about on ebay Uk, a '73, priced at £10k

Still a Jewel to me, so put her here too ;D

as per the other thread. That bike is mine. It is in rolling thunder and ray's book. Someone quick quick rode it in the 70s. Anyone know who.....? (the number is a bit of a help ~ no not Barry Sheene!))
At one particular race they weighed it three times as they couldnt believe how light it was.
The rider in question told me that he was leading a rather famous Suzuki rider until..... the new fangled ignition packed up!
Hence on those early bikes the factory riders often switched back to the old ignition set up to give themselves a better chance of finishing the race!
-
Her she is...went looking all over the internet, for new pics of CCM's and had a couple right here in the book shelf too ;D ;)

No wonder you're running out of shed space Ben :o....You and Jonesy have even more in common that I'd imagined. ;D
