i have used this mob for years  http://www.hardchromeservices.com.au/ and probably had well over 30 sets done (these days it is cheaper to get brand new legs) They charge around the $200-$240 per pair. I have never had any issues or complaints with them and they have always done a excellent job. I sent some shock shafts i had done at Hardchrome services to Thor at http://ltthor.home.comcast.net/~ltthor/forsale.html and he was impressed with them and said he would recommend this hard chromer to any of his customers in Australia if they needed their shafts done.

Yeah thats what many people dont realise. Back then the chroming was done to a budget and no where near as good as what todays hardchroming is. Now when you get a set done, it will last out the life of the bike, of course if you look after the bike and dont leave it out o the rain for months and months which im sure no one here is silly enough to do anyway.

might seem like a  silly question but do you have to do the legs in pairs if you only have a problem with one?
