HI wondering if anyone knows what shocks have been put on this ts 400 the front brake control is attached to a block of aluminium then attached to the shock were as the the original is attached directly to the shock these shocks also have valves not sure if the originals did and the hub is all oppisite verey confused is there an advantage to these over the original any help welcome ill attach a pic tomorrow thanks

im glad you put a photo up because i thought your were talking about shocks not front forks and i was confused as hell.
To ID the hub take out the wheel and remove brake plate. look inside hub for any markings. eg 'S' for suzuki or tuning forks for yamaha.
also a veiw of the whole front forks would help.
what diameter sre the chrome fork legs?

Wowee, now that IS trick. I am assuming that is a stock TS front wheel and a later RM or YZ set of forks with a you-beaut adapter to get the non-leading axle wheel to fit the forks...
In fact, I am gonna guess that those are YZ250/400D/E forks. Anyone else agree?

not sure of the diamater of the but it is a rim a d.i.d 160x21 i think it has many fractures in it i will have a further look at the hub but im in the midle of a move so might take me a little time bare with me sorry about the pics my camera files are to big to post straight away so i have to muck around with them a bit any help is much apreciated as i got no idea as to what i will have to use to replace rims and parts

As Leith said can you give the dia of the upper fork legs?
The lowers look like Yamaha by the axle clamp and the short overhang. Does the LH fork leg have the same axle clamp arrangment? The front wheel could be Yamaha as well.
I'm wondering if someone has used two right hand fork legs hence the bracket to anchor the backing plate.
I can't see an anchor lug on the LH leg.

TS it all kinda looks all yamahaish to me(maybe kwack). I'd be ditching the whole setup in favour of some more original items (or at least suzuki parts bolt up correctly) preferably look for stuff from the later 76/77 TS250 and 400 models '75 is okay too but earlier and you revert back to the clunker steel lowered forks and 19" front wheel with steel rims. It also appears to be using the stock TS clamps which has the wrong offset for the leading axle forks fitted. I only see disadvantages using this setup sorry ;)

Looks like a Yamaha wheel to me. That's a lot of machining to achieve something that could have been worked out with a bit more thought.

Good point about the offset Doc, I forgot about that.
The bike could have little or no trail which would make "interesting" to ride. :o

it all looks Yamaha to me as well. although the brake set-up is usually on the "left" side while that looks like a home made block to convert it over to the right hand side with a nut of somekind used as a wheel spacer.
why is this so?...... :)

i know someone who runs leading axle TT forks in non leading axle triple clamps on a TT500 and he said yeah everyone says you cant do it and it will handle badly, but he thinks its totally fine and handles great that way.

each to their own Leith ;) I'd still be hunting up a more suitable pair of forks and wheel for this particular bike though.

it all looks a bit dodgy to me what would be a suitable replacement besides ts or tm parts as the only stuff ive seen is in the states would any other suzuki stuff be suitable
