Title: 1977 XR75 sidecovers
Post by: Adam on May 05, 2009, 08:13:46 pm
L/H and R/H sidecovers for a 77/78 K4/K5 XR75 are desperately wanted to finish a 3 year resto.  Both sides with the 3 locating tabs still intact are preferred but I'll happily consider all options including single covers or covers with minor damage. $$$ is no issue so long as the other half doesn't get to hear about it..

Thanks hitatreeonce, but my preference is for some original Honda covers IF I can find them. As a matter of interest, do your moulds have provison for the 3 locating lugs likes the originals or are they similar to the Maier aftermarket sidecovers that are secured with screws?

NOS 77 XR sidecovers are as rare as rocking horse crap NOW Adam, I have 3 new sets and a S/Hand set that I have collected over the last 8 years, I purchased a R/H sidecover for $120 USD 2 years ago and that was cheap then ???, it looks like Maier sidecovers in fighting red may be your only option.

Unfortunately I think your right Betric. I have 2 sets of Maier plastics in fighting red and orange but not keen on using them! I bought a broken R/H original Honda cover missing the rear lug recently for USD $60 on Ebay and I keep checking there regularly but without much luck.  My only option might be to buy a damaged L/H cover if I can find one, repair both (somehow) and get them color matched for paint with my tank. I nearly bought an entire bike this week in QLD on Ebay for $700 that had both original side covers that looked OK but chickened out at the last minute as I just couldn't come at spending that much just to use it for the sidecovers.  I've become consumed by my quest to find them. Ah, the joy of doing up bikes!!
