I have just come back from looking at the paddock that we will have for our first "Twin Shock MotoX Ass." meeting in and if there ever was a paddock you just really wanted to ride in this is it.
Natural terrain table tops, big berms, jumps in every direction, drop offs, off chamber corners, 50 acres of natural terrian undulations with enough flats for a good start straight all on a green grassed loamy sand based free draining MXers dream paddock with a view of the Tasman sea.
It would be great to see some Aussie guys here, I think you would like it.
-
what! a weeks notice, you guys must think none of us work, hang on a minute, the way Rudd is running things you might get 400 of us over there all looking for a bike to ride.
cheers Trev
-
i think ive had one too many, its July not June, bloody hell, thats means there is heaps of time!
-
does this mean no yz's allowed?
-
I think you were right the first time Trev, 27th June is next weekend. How many rounds will there be DJ?
-
mmmmmm - simple rules, simple racing - good terrain - what more could you ask for. How does one emigrate to Kiwi Land?
:D

There are many ways, Ross, but I doubt whether you'd survive the speech therapy.... ;D
-
The canterlevered YZ's are allowed, just no linkage bikes and there are 2 rounds in the series but next year we'll look at doing more.
At each round you will get 5 races plus practice on 1 bike and if you enter 2 bikes its 10 races or 3 bikes 15 races and so on, all for $30 for each round. No Licence required, no bad attitudes and I think I can promise some good racing.
When we set the track up this coming Friday I will take some pictures and I will try to get some more of the racing on Saturday, but you will just have to imagine the after-match function Saturday night because I wont be taking the camera, I'll have a beer in my hand instead. ;D

Smart move with the YZeds, looks to be stacking up for an awsome series, good luck!!
-
Thanks Darren, as it will be the first race meeting for the TSMXA we are hoping for a good turn out, and Im sure we'll give them a track to remember.
Ross, that bike of yours should be making the journey over the ditch, if you or anyone liked the tracks of yesteryear(35yrs ago) then this paddock will be right up your alley. The hardest part about making a track in this paddock will be trying to avoid some of the jumps otherwise it will be a outdoor supercross. ;D ;D
-
I have actually got the VMX travel bug - went to Tassie last year, going to Queensland this year coz the wife likes the bikes also and we can kill 2 birds with one stone. Was thinking about going and having a look at CD next year but have also started umming and ahhhing about contacting my bestest buddy, you beaut mate, long term friend Craig and coming for a holiday with the boss next year over your way. Maybe the biggest worry would be wanting to come back ;D

As always DJ i'm very jealous of the tracks you guys are racing on there doesnt seem to be a rock in the place just grass and loamy soil waiting to be shredded awesome .

Wow what a great looking track! Looks like you left Conondale and went home to a track just as good.
Nice looking RM125b there, would that be you riding it DJ?
-
That would be me on the RM125B, its Bills' bike and you wont here me saying how cool it was ;D I didnt take any of my bikes out because I thought I wouldnt have the time to ride but everything just flowed and I got to ride 5 races.
-
How come Brad and I missed that one DJ? Looks like you all had a ball as usual, no footpeg spring issues I take it? Did Woody come? Get Woody to ring me or Bill if hes still coming over for the Nats, the 125a is all ready to rumble. The second photo DJ is that Bryan S? that woud have to be the fastest PE400 in the world woudnt it? he should take a cup back over the ditch. How many coming over for the nats? Talk to you soon. John.

The second photo is Danny W. on the PE400 and he just happened to be riding a '77 TF125 as well. We dont talk about it though as the guys on their RM370's have a hit out on him now. ;) ;D

I heard a rumour that the boys over here are doing rain dances everyday for the "Nats" ;D
Mark "Woody" didnt make it down to this one, and I hate to say it John but you and Brad (and anyone else) are always welcome to our VMX meetings but there are some tracks that we like to keep secret ;) ;D otherwise you wouldnt go home ;) ;D ;D ;D
One day we will let you ride on the Waitotara/Waverley (ash/loam/sand) and as Neil (the Mouth of MX) Richie put it "I thought the worse sex you can have was better than the best days motocrossing, but I have been proved wrong today, I have a boner and all I want to do is get on my bike again"
-
Couldnt get the friggin computer to work properly at home so I had to come on with a different name, Bill thought I stirred up the Mexicans pretty well so hense the name. Oldmate 414 will probably come on and have a go now.

What a ripper of a track. Good on you DJ. Has there been any more discussion on a NZ CD style event? (CD6.5!)

Wonder if she who will be obeyed would like a holiday in NZ, 'oh sorry dear didn't know there was a VXM event on' mmm!! wonder how that would fly!!!
-
Thanks for the comments guys, the area that the track was is fanastic for natural terrain racing and we are very luckly to have a friendly farmer who let us into this piece of VMX heaven.
Brad you would have enjoyed to jumps and when we were trying to mark the track out we were trying to avoid most of the jumps.
CDKiwi Style has been talked about a little but nothing concrete. It will take a deadicated team to get it up and running but I can see it happening but maybe not as soon as we would all like.
That paddock that we got to used is available for a month and I hear Darryl Hurley is going to set up a practice track there.

Back in The Old Days, the Wanganui area was mx heaven. Apart from the North vs South mx, before it was incurably corrupt (!!!), we had the odd mad thrash at Bob Coleman's farm, a loamy, grassy mx heaven. After the traditional day-long thrash, usually featuring all of NZ's top riders, including the world's fastest Maori, Lou Peeti from Dannevirke, was Bob's front-yard barbecue, with all and sundry ending up in the pool, followed by the traditional loops by the tow cars down the enormous grassy hill in front of Bob's joint, featuring loud pedal and handbrake. At sunset, all enmities and rivalries were dissolved, settled with a handshake, and forgotten as teams dispersed in all directions.....till the next moto... 8)

I have been at work all day today as well as some late nights this past week and have nearly forgotten how good the day was so I thought I would post a couple more photos.

Round 2 of the twinshock series was run yesterday at digger Mcewan park Taupo.
I believe (but am happy to be corrected ) that this was the first time a VMX in NZ has been run at a purpose built MX circuit.
A great day was had by all that attended inspite of the challenging weather conditions.

It was great to race on the best track in NZ. Bill made as walk the bloody track 1st . Never done that at a vmx meeting before. Thought thats what pactices were for.It was that cold some of the boys had to go around the mountian because the road was closed (SNOW).. The pumice soil is great to race in plenty of grip but it took all the bloody paint off the 370s tank where me knees rub. Had a fire going in the club rooms thank god.And it was nice and warm in the pub watching the allblacks kick some aus ass afterwards. Thanks boys bring on the 3rd round
