Title: TS185 fork diameters
Post by: LWC82PE on May 03, 2009, 06:25:03 pm
i know that the 79 onwards ER models are 33mm but i havent got any reliable and trustworthy information on pre 79 models. I know some were 30mm but did they go from 30mm right up to 78 or was there a couple models that had 32mm around 76-78? I have a feeling there is but im not 100% sure.

TS185B and TS185C had the 32mm inline axle forks, these are the same forks used on TF185's to the last day they made them

The "L" model (1974) I saved from the dump had 30mm forks, same as my TM125

Ok thanks. What i need then is some sort of headlight brackets off a model with 32mm forks and i reckon being only 1mm bigger they should go on my 33mm forks alright. something like this would be good so i can use a 5 & 3/4" headlight.

what do the headlights/headlight brackets look like on a TF185 with 32mm forks?

does anyone know the length of these brackets? i would need to check that they are long enough to fit between the top and bottom clamps on the 33mm ER forks.

i checked the distance between my top and bottom clamps and it is 175mm but im thinking i can always lengthen or shorten some headlight brackets to 175mm if needed. im fairly confident that the 32mm brackets will go over the 3mm forks. Its only .5mm bigger each side and there should be enough stretch in the rubbers. If not i can file the holes out a bit.

So who has a RH bracket to match the NOS left one i have seen?
