Title: save weight xl.
Post by: hampster on April 30, 2009, 04:44:55 pm
Hi,

Trying to cut some weight on an xl 350.

Looking at the back wheel, does a tl 250 or mt 250 fit/work?

I know a sl 350 works and is 2 kgs lighter but vary hard to find.

MT250 hub is the same item excepting it runs 520 sprocket v the 530 size on the XL

the MT has a steel rim v the alloy one on the xl

would an sl 125 wheel work, has a cush drive just need to set up a sprocket its a lot lighter just relace the rim with an
alloy one with the right off sets and space in the swing arm.

the four post cush drive would only barely take the power ??? of the 125.

one good squirt of the throttle or a throttle on landing would shear them off and instant nuetral :o

stick with the original and save your gearbox, you can save considerable weight by using a sensible sized tyre.
