Title: Motocross De USA
Post by: maicoman18 on October 03, 2007, 11:51:20 pm
Yes, I know it isn't vintage but I want to know!

Found the points result of this years Motocross De Nations, no story, but it only listed two Australian riders. Reed and Byrne. Anyone know who the third rider was and what happened to him? Isn't there normally a reserve rider as well?

I think we came about last. Reed was second in the first moto but crashed in the second, Byrne's bike expired, and McFarlane crashed out and went to hospitl with some broken ribs I think. Pretty bad luck all round, sadly.

Bad luck for the Aus guys. Still, NZ got 4th and it sounds like Ben Townley was the only rider to get anywhere near RC in the last moto. Hey, after Coppins managed to lose the MX1 championship we deserve some consolation...

NZ didn't finish the event. Townley was injured in a qualifying race on the saturday and i think Hurley crashed out too. That may have been the saturday lap times or another qualifier you saw with Townley and RC.

I sometimes check out the Racer X site, I found this 5 minute interview with Mcfarlane.

They also sometimes have some good vintage articles.
