Gday Guys,
Just wondering about the following Q's re The clarence meeting. Please excuse my ignorance...
Can i run a knobby rear tyre?
Do the pre75 125 usually run in a different class but the same race as the pre 78?
When are numbers issued for my bike? If they are on the day then can i purchase them there?
Is nifty Nev's Old RM125s gunna pass scruteneering?

1. Yes.
2. No. The pre-75 and pre-78 125s race (and are scored) together.
3. You apply for your number when you join the club. If you ask for a number that's already taken, then you get to chose again. Worst case scenario is that you turn up with some white electrical tape and some scissors... This bit always stresses people out, but really, its rarely a problem... And its easily sorted if it happens. Check out some photos from HEAVEN events to get an idea of the numbers already in use.
4. It would have until you told everyone that it's Nev's old bike! ;D
Seriously, the main things that people get knocked back on:
Throttle not self returning (this is a Nev favourite);
Handle bar ends not plugged;
Wobbly wheel bearings and/or swing arm bushes;
Loose spokes;
No balls on the end of levers.
Really, if the bike is in the sort of condition that you'd be happy to race it, chances are that it will be fine.
At the club level, they're pretty easy going WRT eligibility - particularly as a newbie, I'd be more than amazed to see you cop a hard time over an eligibility issue.

Lucky it's had some work done to it. Last time I saw that bike, it didn't look like it'd pass... I'll have to come along to Clarence so's I can see the thing in the flesh!

Yep, looks a lot better now. Sweet bikes those 75 RMs. I wish I'd kept the thing but I doubt I'd ever have got it looking like that. I cheated and bought one that's already been done! I hope to get to Clarence with mine, but with CD6 and Double the Dirt within a couple of weeks of that round I probably won't get a leave pass.

Nope, health probs mean I can't ride for a while yet. Fingers crossed it gets sorted for CD6. So far the year's been completely stuffed for riding but I am really hoping to make up for it in the second half...

Yes, it's a good job alright. I'd love to know how much needed doing. From memory, I picked it up for $250 at an Oran park Heaven round back in about 2001/2002. I spent a lot of time tracking down bits, but can't remember now how many parts I'd sourced for it. I think I found an airbox and a seat and a few other odds and ends along with cables and so on. I onsold it to Glenn W who then sold it to Nev. I think that's the history.
I regret selling it, and the YZ125X, RM250B and TT500C that I sold at the same time to pay for my HL500. My finance manager is not sympathetic to vintage MX!

Lets just make it clear, I have done a few other resto's mainly on YZ's. But Nev Did the whole resto on the RM, the only thing i have done is play with jetting. It is such a nice light little bike to ride full credit to Nev and company...

It's good to hear your going to bring the beast back out, i look forward to being beaten by my old bike!
Yes web master, you got the story right, jesus i never saw that picture when you had it, it came in about 20 boxes when I got it from wobbles place!
Just a note, Brett is also the proud owner of my old 69 TS250 flat tracker, knows when he's on a good thing! Oh, and sticky throttles just allow you to keep it full on through the corners! (whilst crappin yourself).
