lozza, the first attempt was a total waste of time and money. Ended up using the Hot Rods as it was a better rod ( more meat )     Thanks for your INPUT   :)  Conondale will be it's test  ;)
Pistons, someone else can sort that out  ;D
Rod   =   Seadoo 650  Hot Rod    Part #    H8117       ( All the parts below were  supplied )
              Use seadoo big end bearing
Use Suzuki Pe 400 big end pin
Thrust washers =  1 x seadoo supplied in kit against rod plus 2 Honda Cr 250 ( 84-01 ) each side
Use Seadoo small end bearing in top of rod

so is this rod the exact same dimensions as the original? is the stroke the same? can you still use STD PE400 pistons?
is there any compromises?

are PE400 big end pins readily available still?

does the STD PE piston pin fit the ID of the sea doo little end bearing properly?

Was as pleasure Stew. Although I can get 1,1.5 and 1.6mm thick for a 24mm pin  and there is a 2.5mm thrust washer for a 25mm pin now to so might be no need to double up.

Leith rod length has nothing to do with stroke, rod is the same except for a thinner big end width.Crank pin is just a 24mm pin no big deal, on difference is you can ride your bike underwater.

what i was meaning is if the rod was longer and you needed a spacer under the barrel

how wide is the original crank pin? is the 24mm pin narrower than original and thats why you need 2 thrust washers?

by the way it will also fit the 400Z aswell ;)

Leith, you use PE top and bottom pins . Crank assembled dimension is 70mm + - .01 mm
All this is  available on the Pe site  ;)
Lozza, I tried the thicker thrust washers, but was unable to obtain 20th clearance . You need to run the seadoo thrust/w against crank first

Rod is now crank guided rather than piston guided ( play in rod is taken up in big end rather than small end

ok as long as we have got all the details from you and theres no need for any guessing or assumptions. if i ask all the questions, then no one else will need to :)

i actually thought you were getting rods custom made. Did you get a quote from the place in NZ? there is a place that custom makes rods over there and im sure theres not a minimum order of 500

i did some research. Pro X rod kit for seadoo 650 93-97 is 03-5507 is the same aswell. Dont know if its cheaper than the Hot Rod. I  have the dimensions of the Pro X rod to confirm, but it should be the same.

Leith, Try and get this company to make 50 rods for less than $150-00 each
http://www.commerce.com.tw/modules.php?modules=products&action=detail&ID=E0143008&no=120660
Company In New Zealand 3 month wait  ::)
Company in Sydney ....... No thanks
In the end It boiled down to economics ....plus I had spent more than enough of my on time and OTHERS
even got a set of CAD drawings made up for a one of to be made. In the end there were not enough takers and I would of ended up with Rods that people could buy cheaper thru ...HotRod or Pro X

Pe 400  1mm O/S pistons  I think from memory I only have a request for 10  :o not economical at this stage
Lozza,  Chime in any time you like  ;)

Stew, ive got a stack of piston dimensions. I will copy the info to you asap and you can see if any are the same or close enough for PE400 use and better than the KX500 pistons

what are the Hot Rods like compared to the Pro X? i will try and find a Hot Rod for the PE 250. At the moment i only know the Pro X for the Skidoo and its a little vague if its from a 3 cylinder Skidoo and what capacity. As soon as i can work out what exact capacity and model the 03-6642 Pro X rod is i hopefully can find an equivalent in Hot Rod brand
