Post by: Fenno on October 01, 2007, 07:15:12 pm
does anyone know if the conrod from an 83 cr250 is same an an 84 cr250
the manual states that the bore and stroke is the same as well as piston pin diameter.
a few bike shops have only listing for the 84 cr250re not any older

Serco in QLD can probably supply a "HotRods" conrod kit for the 84 RE. i have used these for many years in my CR250RG '86 model with no problems at all.

an 84 rod works fine, same size just a  smaller length main pin (2mil)

also if you get stuck try Bikes and Bits importers in WA, sorry dont have their contact details here. they claim to have the worlds largest stock of rod kits and should be able to help you. they have a database of rod dimensions. if they dont have the exact one for your bike they usually can find one from another model that will fit.

have you thought of getting a honda cross reference program from here. ive got the suzuki one and find it very useful

great idea however looks like their cross referencing only goes back to '87 and newer CR250s.....d'oh!.....

puppie,
Best option is to have the rod removed and get Pro-x to cross reference the dimensions with all rods, 9 times out of 10 a rod from another manufacturer will fit if you can't get a honda one.
