have you considered a TS250? they are alot easier to get and basically the same when you strip the lights and excess brackets off.
-
no no no no no i wont do it i will feel guilty about screwing a ts even though i just want an original suzuki tm250 or even the dreaded 400 dont care is it looks like a terd on wheels i will do the hard work on a tm to make a tm if i touch a ts it will be to restore a ts
-
i know the ts is a good option but im prepared to wait for a tm250 or 400 i dont think i want to buy a done up one just a project even if i have to spend it bit on it
-
ok good plans, you just might have to wait a while till a TM comes up for sale though.
-
it doesnt worry me if i have to wait even if i just got a tm400 motor in a frame i would be happy gives me another good long project to work on :)
-
my dad had a tm125 lucky bugger when he was about my age 15 16 and it was his favourite bike it ended up sold to his mate then sprayed white then onsold to some one for $70 i wonder what happened from there unless some one bought a white tm125 in the vic area a fair while ago
-
I waited over 18 months , maybe longer In the end I gave up and have started on my Hybrid ::)
Plenty of 75 models out there and I have one also, You may jag one and good luck to you if ya do ;)
-
so your obviously not scared by the TM400 then. Gees im not sure, sounds pretty scary what some guys here have said about the ignition advance being so random, one minute your going along fine, the next thing you know, you've been bucked off and are in hospital with broken ribs and or a broken leg. A lot of forum members are comming off their bikes lately so i would hate to see it happen to others, but if you reckon you can tame a TM400 then you will need to be pretty game and have luck on yourside ;) its not just the ignition either, too much power for that spindly little flexy frame and swingarm.

yeah i was and still am over the moon i got that special pe400 thanks again Rusty but i actually would like to have a crack on the tm400 over the tm250 i know they have a bad rap but any 2 stroke 400 is going to be a weapon
-
i know they have a bad rap but any 2 stroke 400 is going to be a weapon
i think thats where a lot of people get caught out, thinking 'its just another big bore two stroke, it cant be that bad'
PE 400 vs TM 400 is chalk and cheese
-
im keen to jump on one stock no taming and ring its neck after a few practice laps ;D i know the dangers but no use being scared of something that may happen i have had more chrashes going slow being cautious than flat out dads helpful words are if in doubt tap it out good moto i reckon i could play it save but i am could easily get injured playing footy so im not going to stop riding a tm or pe if it spits me off i have already broken an arm falling off a swingset no injuries due to bikes but a few spills but ill be back i would like the tm400 im like big bores big bore anything mx or enduro huskys to bultaco's i would like the tm400 for sure and i would ride it alot
-
yeah i know two totally different style bikes i have ridden mx bikes before if everyone is so scared of tm400's why arent any for sale do people just have them to look at? after tm400 now for sure
-
also do any forum members own a tm400 and do you ride it?
-
i am going to post in the classifieds that i am after the tm400 that is probably the very first time it will be posted that some one wants a tm400 :)
-
there is a yahoo TM group, join up and ask there as thats pretty much specific to TM'. that would have to be the best palce to try. Are you prepared to bring in a 400 from USA? there are a few guys on this forum who can offer assistance with that if you find one there.
-
