Title: Number plate plastic.
Post by: Rossvickicampbell on April 10, 2009, 08:26:03 pm
I have Matcho Mike making me up another set of fibreglass number plates for my YZ at the moment (YZB can't buy anything in the market).  But was sitting here thinking about having a go at making some up from plastic (no resto to work on at the moment you see  :().  Can anyone tell me what I need to ask for when buying plastic sheet ie number plates tend to be the fairly flexible type of plastic - is this ABS????

Thanks

Rossco

polyethlyene or Polyproplyene or flexible PVC maybe. i once bought some really good white flexible plasic sheet 3mm thick from Bunnings for panneling on a sidecar and it was really good stuff and impossible to break. You can bend it in half and it will not break at all. Just look through yellow pages and ring some places and tell them you need something 3mm thick or what ever and it has to be flexible. I did that the the otherday when looking for some black sheet for a sidecar i just built. The stuff comming is black 3mm thick polyethlyene.

excellent - ta.  I was thinking around 2-3mm as any thicker and you would lose the flexibility.
