Title: What's wrong with this picture

Benolkins been wheeling and dealing on Ebay for years, always with the big hoo haa about how good he and his brothers are or were. That poor old Honda is so wrong on so many levels. The 480 engine puts it into some make believe class we haven't got here, the swingarm makes it look like a hill climber but should be great for his "third gear starts" which he mentions twice so it must be a big selling point. My worry is that after that huge third gear hole shot, how are you going to turn the bastard?
Those 20" shocks would be a bit creepy too. What do you reckon Walter? Overall, he seems to have drastically altered the bikes geometry just so it doesn't loop out on those third gear launches. Weird.

ps, I collect Webco stuff and wan't aware they made a head for the CR480. It looks like a stockie to me.

That swingarm is way too long & those shocks look to be off road car shocks. Doesn't look right and how would you turn it without a berm on every corner. His brother Tom is a gun rider but could he ride that thing?

mmmm...'wrong on so many levels' is a pretty good description. Afraid I'm a non believer :-\ put the original gear back on and you'd have yourself a really nice bike. A good mate had the CR480 we rebuilt completely. In stock trim it rode really nice. After hoping off the big '78 RM rattletrap the CR felt sooooo plush and seemed worlds apart rather than just the 2 years. Swingarm cracks/woes ended the blokes patience and it got sold off super cheap..another silly mistake in hindsight ::)

Hand Crafted Swing Arm glass Blasted and Clearcoated it is just a little longer the a new crf 450  for more stability, also helps keepthe front end down for 3rd gear starts.

My first thought was that it must have a 12" rear wheel then...

Rough measurments (of pics on my monitor) suggest that he's got a swing arm that's around 24.5" long, with a 57" total wheelbase.
Similarly rough measurements (of pics on my monitor) suggest that a new 450F's swing arm is around 25" long, with a 59" total wheelbase (the 59" came from the spec sheet).

So yeah, while it looks as goofy as hell, it might actually work.

I think the shocks may be Fournales air shocks. They aren't that good apparently.

Nah im sure they made by Fox. look at the sticker. As johnnyO suggested they are probably designed for an offroad buggy

http://www.foxracingshox.com/

see what i mean buy having no restrcitions on some modern shocks on vintage bikes, you can get away with these sort of shocks

The shocks are off a snowmobile. What a rip.

That swingarm looks about 5" longer than a stock arm, a 1980 CR250 could do with a wheelbase about 1-2inches longer. It has a standard wheelbase of 57" and an '83 CR480 has a wheelbase of 58.5" and they handle fine. Yeah they are modern day Fox shocks.

I'm probably going to make myself look pretty dumb here but I have to ask, what are "pods"?

It's got an airbox, it just doesn't seal very well.
