Title: Thanks BMCC For Juniors Day
Post by: Ji Gantor on March 30, 2009, 09:54:24 am
Thanks to Russell Muirhead and all those that organised and helped BMCC juniors day, weekend just passed.
It was a fine windy day and the track was prepared just right.
All had a great time including the parents.
The track designers have added some more interest to the track with an off camber corner and a new jump half way along the main straight.

Well done BMCC
Keep up the good work.

VMX stars of the future need track time.

The Nudgee track is a great learning track.
Young or old if you can get your lap times down safely you will be pleased at the end of the day.

There are a variety of different jumps for juniors and VMX to practise on.

The bowl turn is great to practise on to find out how many lines one can take.

The only problem is I am more frightened watching my son sliding in corners or getting squirrely over a jump than I am for myself when I am on the track.

I also find myself chanting "Elbows Up"  "Move forward on the seat"  "Weight the out side peg"  "Head over the handle bars"
You start sounding like one of those parents that run up and down the footy field yelling to their kid all sorts of stuff. Please God give me the strength to resist.

I wonder what Chad Reed's dad was like?

The flat turns prepare riders for grass tracks and sweepers.

After all classes have been around the track the club sends out the riders in reverse.
This means you get to ride on two tracks.
Lap times are different depending on which way the track is riden.

The Nudgee track is a great place for new riders to learn how to grip with the knees, have a neutral body position and position their head over the handle bars when jumping.
Looping out is a common problem when jumping and practise on a well prepared track can solve this problem.

The second juniors day was even better and the track conditions were perfect thanks to a working bee and an expert on the water truck.
Thanks to all that worked on the track to get it ready for riding.

The sun was shining and the wind was blowing but there was hardly any dust.

The competition between the juniors was certainly there.

The sweeper saw plenty of passing, which is all good training.
