Hi
Open that cheque book , did the RN Suzuki get sold ? It starts me thinking as to the CCM 500 1976 that was advertised maybe 6 months ago that was advertised for $20k I was told is was sold is that the dearest VMXer in the land ? what is the most Expensive VMX er that has been sold here in Oz?
-
there were some early Yamahas, OW and YZ500 back in the day that were pretty pricey in USD.
the odd RH has gone for 20 something, my personal favorite Hagon framed TT500 in mid teens, they are the ones that stand out from memory.
-
The RN sold for $17,888.50 that was the last price I saw it at,with the reserve not met..
I have watch the ebay market for awhile and are impressed with all the Suzuki's holding there own. 8)
Of course the CZ and Maicos are getting good prices in the US market of 20k range.
This of course is the public view and not what reflex's what is being sold on the private market. :P

I had a good whack stacked on the RN when it reached the reserve but never heard back from the seller even though I was the highest bidder (but failed to meet reserve). Seems that unless you reach the actual reserve on that damn evil bay your total amount never gets declared to the seller? Guess he had someone contact him after the auction - still plenty of other bikes out there I suppose.
None of anyone's business but his I suppose with enough to be worried about without the hassle of playing let's make a deal ???

The story has it that Jawa/ESO once made the statement that if Ivan Mauger won the world speedway title again ,they would produce a real a gold plated speedway bike for him. He did ,they did!!! Look for photos on the web.

That ccm was sold in a deal for another rare bike, not a straight sale. A particular Honda was sold for either $20,000 or $25,000. I forget which one.
-
who says they have to cost 15 grand, nothing like a good recycling project

Apparently the RN didn't reach reserve and will stay in DTs shed for the time being. The Hagon Yamaha monocoque went for a bit over 10k. I came very close to buying it but it I chickened out when I realised it needed a fair bit of work, far too much for the asking price. It went to a good home at Alan Jones place with his other exotica. I had a chat with him at CD5 and he was a bit pissed off that the bike was less than race ready. It was all easy fix stuff but it should have been right for the dollars paid.

and today what is taking the top honors ?
-
i have seen and been told $25,000 + for a factory ow race bike here in Victoria, but if you want it bad enough a person will pay top dollars

Ivan Mauger has a ...real.... gold plated speedway bike. ;) Don,t know of any VMXers with one.

-
try Cyclone for the most expensive dirt bike in the world, last one sold at auction for USD $520,000, you could gold plate Ivan and the bike for that kind of cash

Well lookee here :o. It must have been the corrupt photo from www.ivanmauger.com that threw my virus protection into a wobbly. All seems OK now.

No that wouldn't work Marc, nothing sticks to the old bugger ;D. There's some doozy stories about Ivan out there that I can't really repeat here. Anyone who ever raced at one of his promotions will have their own Ivan yarns. He's unbelievable. :-X

The gold plated bike is true and the amount of unreal bullshitting Hmmmm have to say the true too :D :D :D :D :D
-
this is the real story about the gold plater 2v jawa
Gold Plated Speedway Bike
In 1970, two men in the USA named George Wenn and Ray Bokelman said that if Ivan Mauger won three world finals in a row at Wroc?aw (Poland), they would have the winning bike gold plated. Ivan duly won the World Final that year, and true to their promise, the bike was taken to America and Gold plated, and so was born the "Triple Crown Special." The machine currently resides at Christchurch Museum.
