rebuilt my 350 but was some time ago Bill, from memory the water pump area is bitch to rot out, you have to set the piston deck height carefully as they are high compression little brutes and be careful of the crankshaft end play.

try using the flat roller equivalent. have used in a few race motors as of late and had no problems. Also no shimming required. Also cheap to buy compared to the magneto bearing equivalent that ktm used.

Bill,

Adrian from OzKTM recently built my 1980 250 motor for me. For the main bearings we used SKF NJ 305 (c3 clearance). As he said, no shims required. The bike has been running now for 3 months with zero issues. Inner race of the bearing was put on with heat and a good deal of care.

I got my piston and con rod kit etc from Alan at Penton Parts USA. Very good to deal with and has provided great after sales service.

All the best

Pete
