Great stuff, looks like you had a fun day, thanks for putting up the pics Noel, would like to be there, always next time ;)
-
great fun yesterday! 'specially my first race! took one and a half laps for those beautiful looking sliders to catch my old monster. i ended up with a third place at the end of the day tired and sore with a big grin!.the new track layout seemed to suit every body with most really liking it. dust was a problem on the day plus the usual problem of finding flaggies.this caused a delay getting started. the fans of nepean should really try to come out on days that they're not riding and try to help out. cheers wally. cool pics noel!

Excellent photos Noel and certainly gets my adrenalin for a comeback pumping.
Is number 70 the original owner of that number, TH?
And who might 74 be?
I'm disappointed I didn't make an effort to go as I grew up at Nepean.
Probably doesn't smell the same without all that oil sweating from the track.
-
Good stuff Noel. Is the no 70 who it should be. Any idea who the guy standing next to XL350 is and how'd it go.
Whilst on the Dirt Track thread did anyone go to Coffs Harbour. Dont quote me but I'm hearing that among others that a certain guy from Medowie had a pretty good weekend. Can anyone fill me/us in.
-
no 70 bikes are owned by T.H.
-
Any idea who the rider of no 70 is jimg1au and how'd he go.
-
Col,
I'm pretty sure the owner was riding in a come back and stood on the top of the podium at the end of the day,
the owner off the XL350 also owns the Metise in the background that was stolen and recovered.
cheers
Noel

It looks like T.H's riding style and as always his bikes are immaculate.
I'd love to know who no 71 is as he looks like he knows his way around on a slider as well.
Was it just a club day and if so which club.
Me thinks Trev is on a comeback for the Aus Titles at Barleigh Ranch.

No.74 is Steve Constable and no.70 is prominent A grader from way back Trevor Hunter. No.25 is the old xt special that they coudn't catch for two whole laps.cheers. Steve No74 was using a speedway clutch No gears! Will be interesting when he's got gears!
-
Taa Noel, I have a bit of an interest in the XL350's at the moment as am in the middle of restoring 74 (silver tank blue stripe) XL350 and if it ends up looking half as nice as that one in your shot at Nepean when finished I will be well pleased.
-
Hi Col,
Here's another shot with a pretty CR125 in the same pit.
I believe that this was it's first run and it performed well though he had a gentle off in front of the pack
in one race notice that the XL is using a 19" front wheel which the rider seemed to think worked well.

Cheers

That CR125 does look nice to Noel. Seen plenty of quick Dirt Trackers in the late seventys and eightys running 19'' fronts mostly with Carlisles which did work well on the harder packed mostly oiled tracks of the day, of which Nepean was one. Am a little confused as the front on the 125 looks like a knobby. However Noel, what can you tell us about the two bikes in the background of that shot and are what looks like XT/TT500 Yamaha and CZ360 and how did they go on the day.
-
Hi Col
the CR had a normal 21' knobby , Both bike's are destined to do some MX as well I believe,
My bike in the back ground, I found the XT a handful as it has a particularly nasty back tyre which gave
terrible feed back as to what it was doing, sliding on roll off and straightening up under power? :-\
the CZ on the other hand was a joy, could have used another gear on the long straight and the jetting
at wide open throttle was a little off but had great drive and predicable to ride. At the end of the day I managed
a second place in a pre78 unlimited race ;D
Cheers
Noel
