Title: DT2 reed blocks
Post by: ChrisACT on March 16, 2009, 12:05:10 am
Hey there,

Are there any reed blocks that fit the Yamaha DT2 barrel other than the DT2 reed block?  MX250, YZ250 or whatever.  Even aftermarket stuff.  I doubt there would be a Vortex reed block that would fit but I figure some of you guys would know.

I'm just looking into what options are out there.  Period rules do not apply.  I can put whatever I like in it as it won't be raced.

Thanks,
Chris

Just weld on a mounting for a late YZ250 cage, then you can either run the Yamaha or use the mighty V force

Yeah, that's the kind of thing I was looking at.  I want to use a late YZ250 carb anyway (as you know) so I guess that would make lots of sense.

Thanks.

Here's what www.cmsnl.com thinks share the original reed block with the DT2.  Same part number for the reed block on all of these models.

I bought a late YZ250 reed block (2001) on ebay.  It's not even close to fitting in the DT2 barrel.  It's at least 1cm wider.  There's not enough meat in the barrel to machine it out to fit.

So, I'm back to square one.  I reckon I'll probably just get a DT2 reed block and bung some nice reeds in it.

On that note, if anyone is after a 2001 YZ250 reed block, it's for sale.  Comes with carb boot.  Make an offer.
