Title: wheel spacers

g day all i have an 82 rm250 that has the wrong rear wheel spacers on the axle so can any one please tell me the width of them and which side they go on ive got one which is 8mm wide and i think it goes on the brake hub side. i had another one made the same width to go on the sprocket side but when i tighten the axle nut up the wheel wont turn cause i think its tightining up on the bearing

zman, i have a 250X in the shed, i will pull the wheel out tomorrow and measure them up for you. i will check that the part numbers are the same, but i dont think they would have changed.

Yeah you will have the locking wheel problem.
The 8mm plain alli spacer on the brake side butts against the brake backing plate centre bush and so will let the wheel turn.
The spacer that goes on the sprocket side isn't a plain alli spacer. Its an alli spacer which has the centre routed out and a steel washer insert
the same size as the inner race of the wheel bearing. This steel insert stands proud of the alli spacer. The spacer butts up against the bearing on the sprocket side and so must butt against thecentre race of the bearing. The alli part is thicker than the 8mm spacer and the steel insert makes it thicker again.
Like you said. If you use a plain spacer it will butt against the outer race and lock the wheel.

They are discontinued in the UK

Part number of the one you want is  64750-14200

I can measure one if aswell if you need me to.

part numbers are actually different from 81 to 82, the spacers in my 81 are 5.4mm thick on the right side, 8.4 on the left side(there is a 1mm wide step whci locates on the bearing innner race).part numbers are the same 81-82 on the right side.

my 81 x is a one owner from new, so the spacers should be right i reckon!!

the bike had one spacer in it when i bought it whitch is about 8mm thick with 1mm step so i had another 8mm one made up to take up the gap on the brake side but when i put it on i noticed the sprocket wasnt lining up to the front one and the wheel wouldnt turn so last night i put both of them together on the sprocket side done the axle nut up  and wtf the wheel turned ok .but theres still a3 to 5mm gap on the brake hub side. so do you reckon thats how its meant to be set up or not . cheers

Do you know if the wheel is the correct one for your bike? The hubs are the straight pull spoke variety, i dont know off hand if there are differences between the 81-83 years, they all look the same. i will check some part no.s for you tomorrow, and i will check if the correct spacer/s is still available from Suzuki. There should definitely only be one spacer per side though.

i took a ride to a mates place today he has the same bike. it turned out i had the right spacer on the sprocket side but i have to get one 5mm for the brake hub side and then it should work i should have just went and seen him in the first place ::) but ya get that thanks for all your help suzuki311 seems like youve gone to a bit of trouble but all should be good now :) keep an eye out on the suzuki thread im about 1or2 weeks away from finishing it and ill put a pic on when i figure out how to do it cheers all thanks

glad you have it sorted, look forward to seeing pics. if i ever get this piece of s@#%@ computer to work properly i will post pics of my restored RM250C2 and RM250X, along with other pics and interesting bits and pieces.
