Title: RD water pump housing.
Post by: hampster on March 03, 2009, 06:24:48 pm
Hi,

I have a 83 250 with the old problem of the corrosion in the water pump housing area its into the gears and has been fixed before.

Has any one got a fix for this problem?

Thanks Chris.

if you are in victoria (Melb) take it to Wideline motorcycle engineering in Bittern and see Harry Bell.

if it is in to the gears then probably a new housing, however if it is not too bad then Devcon pump liner works well, give it a light sand blast, smear the grey stuff in and it dries like ceramic and you are laughing. I used to do pumps from new with it.

agreee with markfx....i devcon-ned my housing a year ago and still all there in place, sweet as.  repco or equivalent will sell it ya.  just make sure water pump gear still has space to rotate and not catch on the liquid metal....

Hi,

It is into the gears and the holes are about 4 to 5 mm in size.

I will try to find a better one that will be ezy as  ha ha.

If i can not find a cover the old devcon will be the trick.

Chris.

Hampster,  Wideline motorcycle engineering can weld these up if they have NOT had the devcon before.
