Title: 500 Bobber
Post by: Colin Jay on March 02, 2009, 07:28:37 pm
I mentioned in another topic that I was building a "Bobber" out of one of my 500 Yamahas, so I thought that I should post a picture of the bike.

The basic frame loop is a much chopped/butchered TT500 frame, the swingarm is DT400, and the current engine is from one of my SR500s, as are the front forks and wheels.

yeah the flat tracker rocks, amazing what you can do with the old SR, in Japan customising them is big news, you can buy hardtail frame or kits to build Manx, MV, G85 replicas, I will load up some shots for you.

I have built 2 seperate baffles into the pipe, so hopefully it will not be too loud. Rego for bikes in country SA is fairly easy, you front the bike to the local police stn for a stolen vehicle (engine and frame number) check, and they don't ask for you to start the bike or many questions and I don't tell them more than they need too know.

Whats the headlight Col. Although I'm generally not in favour of that period look I think it looks good in this application.

Roger is correct. the headlight is off of an early model of Australia's most popular motorcycle, the good old Honda CT110 Postie Bike.

Its funny about the head light being from a postie as I think the front mud gaurd on the flat tracker is off a postie as well  :o jimson
