Hello Gents, THe montesa resto is complete, just finshed runing it in and taken it for a couple of laps of the block. It has awsome power and takes off like a rocket, was on the back wheel in 3 out of 4 gears. The only problem I was having was 1-2 gear kept going to netural?? I got it a couple of times no probs though. So I am sure it is just practice. The web site says it is full and won't let me up load a 65k file, so I have put them on photo bucket. Here are the links

Beautiful, youve done a great job. I like the genuine works Montesa stand, as well!

Very nice indeed - very tidy.
I admire Monties from afar, never having ridden or owned one.

..... was on the back wheel in 3 out of 4 gears.
So, it a 414?
Well done, looks awesome 8).

HEY mx250
No it is a 250, but when band/sweet spot kick in it is straight up. I was sitting forward so I don't know, it has heap of comp as well. Whats next mmm not sure yet,
I am sure a bargin will come up, I was tempted to go for the Bultaco Road bike on ebay but I think his reserve is high as this is the 3rd ime it has been listed. Maybe road bike, but something intresting?? and doesn't cost the earth??

Why the VB style side covers Tom?

Hey Big K,
I was thinking that myself yesterday, I think I may invest in the proper side covers, I did like the look of the other side covers, but I don't really like the way the muffler hangs out now I have finshed it.
But over all I think it came up well and I am very happy with the parts, I have a feeling now that all my trouble was that Bing 54.
Cheers

A lot of VF owners actually prefer the VB look with the number plate mounted vertically at the air box. Personally I can't decide. It not the most practicle from the lap scoring POV but it most certainly looks distinctly Montesa 8) which has gotta be a plus.

What you have looks pretty good to me. I think if you tarted it up with a laser cut oval and numbers it would look a lot better.

I agree with your comments about the muffler, not that it looks any worst then any other MX'er, then or now. But I like the stubby exhaust of the VB and the really tidy rear end that results.

I like the shorty sidecovers. I changed mine after seeing some of the US models. I do have some VF sidecovers but they're aftermarket. I'd take 60 bucks for them.....

It also slims down the bike taking away those "pregant woman hips" feeling that twin-shocks seem to have.... :D
-
Hey Ross what have you done for your right hand side cover?? Mine is made out of a safety sign that got returned at work. Looks the part.

I just got some 4mm plastic from the local plastic shop, used the other side as a template, cut it out and drilled some holes. Took about ten minutes. :)

About the same as what I did, I think I am going to redo the triple clamps and shocks in the right color once i know what that is from Mounty nut, and put on the orignal side covers. and redo the orignal shocks so they are mint and put them on with the orginal hangers for the tin cans with the montesa logo on it!!
