Title: Telesco Shock Rebuild - 73/74 Montesa Cota 247
Post by: bitserv on February 24, 2009, 11:21:07 am
Restoring the Cota and dismantled the rear Telesco's but need a new set of shaft seals as they were leaking, can anyone help? Sydney location.

Also need to remove the bush that sits on the outside of the shock body, protects the body from the spring (?), as the bodies need to be re-chromed, and need a pair of replacements, as I suspect they will get damaged getting them off. Again, any assistance wold be appreciated.

Steve

I have one more question now that I am ready to re-assemble the shocks. What oil do I use? From my readings the oil weight works the same as for forks (ie 5 wt for soft and 15wt for hard) but can you use fork oil or, because of the smaller capacity, do you need a special shock oil? If the answer is that I need shock oil where can I get some?

Shock oil = fork oil and there are heaps of good brands and viscosities available to help you fine tune your suspension. Check out their site info http://www.motul.com.au/main.html or this http://www.motorexoil.com.au/html/products/otheroils/fork_oils.htm
