Great photo of the style master.......roosting a Yammie of course!!
-
I think he looks worried - the Yam is about to pass!! :o
Rossco :D

Nah, he's lapped the Yammie! ;)
Are you sure it's '76?
I recall Roger started wearing the full face Moto Star after a big endo and face plant.
Pretty sure the front end dropped off during a race in the USA.
Thought it was later than '76 though.
Great photo! 8)

UK magazine I found it in is On Two Wheels, Volume 6 Part 88 (1978). 75% (about 15 pages) is "On the Glory Trail", covering Suzuki racing stuff from 62 to 'present' - 1978 ;D Photo is simply tagged as 'Roger De Coster on his 400cc Suzuki in 1976'

Judging by the spectators head wear that photo has to be in Europe...
I recall the US bike mags were full of the 'Roger D crashes big time' stuff.
I think Tony Di Stefano's front end separated a short while after Rogers.
Suzuki then went into damage control explaining this could only happen to works bikes and not the average shop floor bike.
and Roger wore the full face after that.
Does anyone else remember this?

Is the guy in front wearing a red plastic bucket. Your right that brand of uncool is only available over the counter in Europe.

Yes wombat i remember DeCosters front end breaking off at a Trans AMA, Livermore i think. Probably was in '76, i got my Bell Motostar at the end of '76.

I too remember it being later than '76, shortly before he joined Honda. I also remember he broke his nose.

I just found the race report from when DeCosters front end snapped off. It's in the April 1976 issue of Motocross Action and it was the Livermore trans ama in the US.
