Picked up this PE that was for sale on Ebay aswell as in the Oz VMX Classifieds. Needs some new plastics but is very complete and has all the hard to get pieces. Plan to use it in as many Vinduro's as possible until I can get one of the Maico's running again.

you could always repower the Maico ;D then you never have to worry about it breaking again.

Well yes it could be PE man as I now have the full set 175 & 250 to go with this one. Let's just say I payed aound the $2k mark. I don't mind paying a little extra for something if it's got all the right bits. At the end of the day if I'm the one riding it and enjoy it the money doesn't even enter the equation.
I think this is basically the motivation why all of us guys and girls resto/ride old bikes. ;)

Looks like a T model. The rear guard looks in good condition and it alone is worth the money. Rare as ................
Are you going to strip the bike or just a tidy up?

T or X model, good buy, next genertion on from the RM 400 motor, different stroke, primary kick start and broader spread of power.
-
Nice bike Maicoman, yes your right about the extra bits, i have seen the speedo's go for over $300 and the rear tail light $$ and well i'm yet to see a new Gen rear guard which i need all these items for my PE 400 X .
Cheers Mick.
-
Hi Mick, I notices a rear tail light for the PE400 on American evilbay just today. There were a few other bits as well.
John
-
the tail light is well hidden

Maicoman will you be bringing this bike to Broadford Vinduro? I would love to see a good line up of PE 400's :)
Cheers Mick.
-
I might be coming on my already done up 1980pe400 :)
-
Hey Mick, not sure about Broadford. I was hoping to do as much riding this year as possible if the wife lets me lol :D Maybe but hoping to get to all the NSW events as they are closer. When I get back from the Ring Dinger Roundup I'm getting stuck into the bikes. May still part with my other PE's and concentrate on the big bores.
-
youll be very happy with the 400 great power and you can go walking speed up a hill no worries nothing will stop it and you can ride through water up past the seat and it just keeps going the short stroke make its a weapon totally different to 250 and 175 and they are great bikes too i am trying to get the three 400's i have a T like yours and need to get myself x and z thanks Michael. :)
-
Wow FrostyPE400. Thats dedication for a brand!!

by what Luke has told me i think most people would be shocked to see how much PE stuff he has.
-
Hi john i grew up on the sitting on the tank of my pe400 i was probably pretty lucky of have too i have had it around since i was born and seeing it woop modern bikes i have had a go on new bikes but the pe is as good i will keep mine as long as i can im only 16 now so hopefully ill get the set of the 400's but they will be ridden just need the 81 and 82 now thanks Michael. :)
-
well if you want the full set then you better grab that 400Z because your unlikely you stumble across many more of those, when people start to realize the rarity/value
-
Good age to start collecting Michael,, 8)
can you imagine what you will have collected by the time you are 50 ;) :P
A small museum I'd say. :o
-
not a museam a select few i have been saving i will get this 400z and then i can do it up and find the x i should have bought the one near me for $500 i didnt realise the value then but the thing is its not about the value i love the pe400's and i want to have ride and restore them all if i could get the full set of the pe's that is a pipedream im focusing on just my favourites the 400 at the moment when i have my own shed i will be right try explaining to your mum why when you buy two of the same bikes ;D it doesnt always go down to well but i have convinced my parents with the 400's thanks Michael. :)
