Title: seat lengthening
Post by: Marc.com on February 22, 2009, 05:14:55 pm
would like to add 25mm to the front of my MX250 seat, what do you think would a hard foam block sit in the front under the cover OK rather then lengthen the base as not like you ever sit on that part.

No problems, easily done and with a good trimmer you won't be able to tell it's not original. Done it many times to fill the gap between the seat & tank on some older bikes. It can be easily removed if need be as well.
Cheers,
K

Marc,
yep, I've done it a few times, usually with foam cut from an old seat.
I use contact glue to fix them together and then get some wadding and cover the whole lot before recovering the seat, the wadding just takes away any joints you would otherwise see under the cover.

thanks for that, well whoever owned the seat last recovered it without attaching the seat mounting brackets to the base, so good chance to solve that problem as well.
