Currently restoring a XL250 Motosport and looking for information or advise on the following.
Local source for 305 kit, repairs to camshaft bearings ( bronze slipper bearings or needle bearing cam)
Conrod kit
Main crankshaft bearings
A repairer in Sydney area that can perform any of the above work.
Thanks. :)

Would BK do the needle bearing cams or just the basic mechanical?

weird i clicked the link and it worked fine.

i think it may be best to ask BK those questions, they have been around and used to specialise in hot up kits and big bore piston kits in the 70's & 80's

I'll be buggered if I can remember their name, but there is a cam repair company I think in Lithgow who will bore out the flogged out bearings of your XL head and fit a caged roller bearing setup. Sorry I can't be more helpful with this one, someone may be able to remember or know who I'm talking about.
As others have mentioned, Serco at Wooloongabba can recon your crank although the reckon they're a pain to do.

Is there anyone else interested in these types of parts or repairs?

Judging bythe amount of metal shavings I found in my oil screen....I reckon I might be a candidate for needle bearing cam and bore kit before long. :(
Anyone know if these bearing camshafts are really any better than the bush type set up?

For general road use the price probably doesn`t justify it ,like $545 + shipping for a megacycle cam :o . Price aside I think they are the better option.

Reason for asking about other people looking was that I might be able to get 305 kits (Piston rings and sleeve) from the Us for about $350 if I can get a few in one shipment.

George McKenzie in Brisbane has waved his magic wand over lots of XL250 motors including warp speed 420cc monstrosities so he is probably a good bet for fixing the dreaded camshaft bearing problem - 07 32064230

Hey LC4,
How did you go with the cam or 305 kit? Did you find anyone to do your work?
I've actually just laid my hands on a 305 kit, and thinking of doing up a head & barrell  so I can try and keep up with these 420 something XL's.  :D

Hi MX,
It turned out that the head was still within seviceable limits  :) so was the bore but I decided to go 25thou over to freshen it up. Have got her back together and running  ;D Only problem was that she doesn`t like resistor type plugs.

G'day Bazza, The 305 I just got is a Henry Abe kit.
So how do you feel about the 305 bore? Have you changed rings etc. since '92? (as in can you still get 'em if necessary)
Does it make a decided difference over the 250 what other engine mods did you make.
Please tell all.  :D
