I don't believe what I did !!!
In a moment of madness I bid on BigK's VR250 project bike on evilbay and WON !!!
Along with '75 Huskies, the Capra was yet another bike I lusted after in the halcyon days, and due to being exposed to a mates shed full of enduro Monty's I just had to have the VR to take my mind off all of the Maico's lol !!!
So many projects, so little time :o.
Cheers

In shock? IN SHOCK??? I hear you say !!! ::)
I have booked into a well renowned OZVMX rehab center and trust that the treatment will allow me to find all the bits I need to get the VR onto the track as one of the nicest looking pre 75 racers out there. My son doesn't know it yet but he is about to learn the intricacies of bike restoration - there is more to life than being an apprentice panelbeater, lol.
My first request is access to someone in Sydney etc who has a VR so I can replicate the original top mounts and side-cover brackets as I really need to have a roller done asap as I don't want the project to stall for lack of info. If it was a MC490 no worries, but I am in unfamiliar territory here with the only thing in common being a red fuel tank, lol
For those of you who haven't had the pleasure, dealing with Mike Hughes is very easy and he is more than willing to help out with shipping issues etc and I can't wait to get a leg over the 440GP which will accompany the VR to Sydney.
Any idea of spares availability, including individuals who may part with stuff?
All the best

The top shock mounts are the same as the King Scorpion if you can't find a VR close by, different to V75 and the H series enduro's. Very easy to do as they are just a peice of flat strap with a few bends. The inner mounts on the bike are intact, it's just the outers which have been removed. You won't be able to fit the new airbox until you put the shocks back to the original position. Start looking for a seat base. As for the carby, I would try to get a Bing, but you might prefer a Mikuni. I actually fitted a Keihin from a '79 CR250 RZ to a VF 250 Cappra once, easy job, easy to get and worked a treat. I can't remember the jetting specs but have a vague memory of reducing the pilot jet but not much else. The bike is still circulating with the Kehin still on it.
Thanks for the kind words Dave.
Cheers,
