It's not GYT kit (alloy liner), is it YZ250A? Did the YZa come with a spares kit?

Thats a lot of cash you would think the inside of the barrel would have discoloured a bit over time.jimson

YZ-A has reed valve.
The lack of liner AND piston port is really weird - I didn't think that such a combo existed.

Its described as a 'factory race kit'. Whats the 214 prefix?

214=dt1

Nathan, When I was restoring my DT1 I was told by Col Iskov, the parts manager at Yamaha Australia that they made piston port GYT barrels in both steel liner and chrome bore guise. I wrote the numbers down somewhere but in my disorganised world I've lost them. That information surprised me as I thought they only made chrome bore reed GYT DT1 barrels. Graeme, the 214 prefix is DT1. I found a NOS GYT cylinder listed for $250us........ http://www.boats.net/parts/detail/yamaha/Y-214-11311-70-00.html (http://www.boats.net/parts/detail/yamaha/Y-214-11311-70-00.html) I've never dealt with this crowd and have no idea of their reliability or accuracy.
For what its worth, my RT1 GYT piston port barrel is chrome bore.
