As far as I know he's still the Yamaha dealer in Bairnsdale Vic?
I did talk to him a couple of years ago, but have lost his number since.
He did say he'd gotten rid of all his old Kawasaki race bikes etc too.

Tony ,
Have just purchased a REV's mag May 1st 1984  and have read the article about
TORTURE IN THE DESERT -Mt Ebenezer 12 Hour.
Fantastic read and bringing back memories of desert racing.
Just wondered if these riders are still around the bike scene. 8)
Also didn't realize Maicos where so young in  oz  ;D

What are the chances of getting a scan of that article?? Pleeeeeease?  ;D
Happy to reimburse you for time etc if you can do it.
I remember talking to Trevor about his set up on the KX cos I had one the same and wanted to do Finke.
The year I rode Finke, my KX pulled 181kph on Old South Road by the Police radar and Graeme Baldwin's XR600 did 186kph!  :o
Beaten by a bloody 4-stroke................
I ran 17/39 gearing and I think Geoff Eldridge ran 17/37............ so how fast did his go then???????
Fun times.................

I think the artical was written by an Elizabeth Robinson,so has no gearing info or any mechanical info,  :-\ just reads  GE came home first in the 0-200cm3 class ??
and got lost in the dust fell of and broke his glass's.
The only way to remove dust from the roof of your mouth is to use honey.ie throat infections and dust don't go ...end result near death. :o
Race starts an noon finishing at midnight.
42 riders entered 27 finished.2500 spectators, not a big event by all means............ but 7500 cans of beer,3000 cans coke(mix for rum) where  consumed  :o  now they where the dayssssss
yep, sure will scan it and post it to you.
cheers

GE rode a KDX200 at Mt. Ebenezer and a KX500 at Finke.

Not Kawasaki at all now. Only Yamaha & Honda.
Funny thing in 1987, I went to the then Yamaha dealer in Bairnsdale for some warranty work on my FJ1100. They sent me to Trevor Williams (then Kawasaki dealership) as he was doing the Yamaha warranty work.  ???
Regardless, he fixed my bike and used a titanium allen head bolt out of a works set of forks leaning against the wall.  :D :D

I think a Norton would have been more reliable than my FJ.........  :-\
Sadly, I went from a VF750 that spent half it's life in the workshop looking for something more reliable in the FJ. Biiiiiig mistake.  :D
Is your Norton a 750 or 850?
