Hi HL400,
No I am not a dreamer I am a hope prisoner.
I like many others over 40 rode some of these bikes back when they were new and hope there may be one with my name on it again. As I said I live in hope.

Thanks for your responce
Ji

I just picked one up this morning.Matching engine and frame numbers.Bought of original owner who raced it in Sydney. In order to keep up with the Jap bikes of the late 70s early 80s he modified the frame to take forward mounted rear shocks and added a yz front end.Not eligible for pre75 but should be allright for pre78.He also added a hand built up pipe.I have started to go through it,pretty good all over except rear shocks, checked the air filter and its one of those disintergrating unifilters described in another post.Came with a brand new spare and that is falling apart also.Cant wait to get the shocks done and a new airfilter, clean carbi, change oil and get into it!Will post some pics when have time.

I think the thing with the Uni filter after the debate i started previoulsy is OIl.  i think leaving them sitting in oil is whats killing them not the petrol, i had some preoiled in a plastic sleeve to take away, now there all peeling.    well thats my take on it.

Ji Gantor,  alas i cant read a word as i cant read your post.  any chance you can change that colour, you might have said somthing interesting and ill never know ?

Freaky,I'd have to agree with you as the new one was still in a sealed plastic bag(bought in 91 I think).

I think all foam over time just dies.
seat foam, helmet foam and over a much shorter time those airless tubes Mousses.

They now make hiking boots soles out of a foam which to be good to the planet if you do not use them within a year the foam dissolves. I know plenty of people, me included that have paid $350.00 for a pair of boots for a hike. After the hike the boots went into the cupboard to await their next outing. A year or so later I tied them on and the sole fell to bits before I could get out my front door.

Thanks

Thanks to this forum.
Many thanks to Paul for referring me to another member that new of a CZ for sale.
Many thanks to Firko who put me in contact with the seller of a CZ.

I picked up my new CZ400 1973 this morning. I am so proud and happy. Now comes the expensive and hard work of restoring, but this burden is lessened when it is your passion and not your job.
