then finally the motor to finish the job
-
the ohlins are not really that pricey, but could be cheaper but i guess you have to pay those prices when you want good stuff. At least you know your getting some of the best.
your motor looks nice. is that bare alloy cylinder/head? if so how do you find the jap alloy holds up to corrosion? i find its hard to clean and once it gets muddy/dirty it never looks the same as is did as soon as it came out the blasing cabinet. or did you use silver paint?
got TT500 motor in workshop at the moment and its bare alloy and looks pretty horrible but i guess the owners also havent been looking after it.
-
I gave it a shot of silver C hi temp paint, looks like a Xmas tree decoration at first but after a runnign and a wash it dulls down and stops everything sticking.
I have another big fin Over head for it off SR race bike coming, I may use it on my other motor.
-
i bought some of that hi temp silver paint the otherday to give a try, just looking for a head to use it on. sometimes all black motors get a little boring i reckon
-
yeah i think they look good with a little variety, flash as a rat with a gold tooth, you can always give the silver a rub with a brass brush to dull things down a bit. mya as well make it a bit more corrosion resistant than Yamaha did.
-
Do the sheep and other farm animals really care what color the motor is? What color will the shovel holder be? :D
Cheers,
K
-
well probably the same color as the carrier for the pig dogs. ;D
better fit a stand and gear her down a bit.

Come on Marc you know farm bikes have dual ratio gearboxes and too stands ;) if your gonna do it do it right ;D
-
yeah Bill I will have to come round to your place and raid the Mudbug (oops sorry TM) spares. :D
-
Plenty of both here Marc :) bit off topic but the humble 2008 mudbug TF 125 can yeild so many parts to TM and RM 125 S,A, B and C models.
Back to Topic are you building the HL in Japan ?
-
hi Bill, no i am building it in sunny Hawera. would have been finished by now but for the want of a reliable coat of paint.
Yeah the humble Mudslug 125 looks quite like they raided the TM/TS parts bin.
-
final piece of the puzzle....well short of 3 valve head

Hi Marc, can you give us an update on the HL500
John

Hey John,
motor doesn't fit between the mounts but other than that she is a bunch of clean major components ready to go. I am overseas working at the moment but expect to be able to show the final product in August.
Best regards Marc
