Looking for the rear shock spec, length and stroke, for the above mentioned model. All the info i have is for aftermarket units that i would presume are different to the standard Suzuki units.
Thanks, Bahnsy

Bahnsy the only info i have is that they are 16" long and the 1980 RM units are 15.75" long. I think the PE shock mounts were a little further back on the swingarm so they used a longer shock.

ALL 80-82 twin shock PE's are 400mm (15.75") - which is a little longer than RM-T 250/400 shocks which are 395-397 ( i havent sat down and done a real accurate measurement but they are 395-397mm)
actual total bare shaft is 127/128mm (this includes the area where the bump stop sits, which is 37mm long)
however due to the design of the lower eyelet it is impossible for the shocks to use 128mm even with the bump stop out. maximum shaft stroke is 114-115mm, but keep in mind if you buy/design a shock with only 114/115mm exposed shaft you will technically be loosing travel as you have lost the other 13 or so mm that was occupied by the bump stop and the bump stop will be moved up futher and you will have less distance between body cap and to just touching the bump stop.
with all my PE shocks i build i like to keep close to or same as original specs and design them so they have 128mm total exposed/bare shaft including the area where the bump stop sits.
Progressive Suspensions USA sell correct length PE shocks with 128mm travel
