Title: PE Speedo Drive

Who know's how to get the speedo drive mechanisim (cable end) out of a PE front brake backing plate?

first clean all the gunk out. you then should see a redish/brown plastic/fiber bushing with 4 little cut outs. i use long pointy pliers to engage with 2 of the 4 cu outs and then unscrew the bushing. be carefull as there are small shims under the bush ( dont loose them). once you get the bushing out the worm drive will come out. the rest is straight forward

I also had another hub off I think was a PE175, but this one had a small location screw coming in through the side of the backing plate to retain the threaded bush. It was that small that I'd missed it first time, it wasn't till I checked the exploded view on Alpha that I realised that there was actually a screw there. Slippery little suckers.

yes some have a locating screw. ive seen that on my TS hub but not PE 250/400. you can also get a little bit of metal and make a 2 pronged tool
