Wow, good to see though, its nice to see Monties been appreciated and appreciating 8), it makes my junk and efforts that little bit more worthwhile 8).
But still surprising. Its not a 'kick and go' racer nor is it a 'den worthy' resto.
The last few bids were split seconds apart so it was been sniped by someone who wanted it. I wonder if it staying in Oz or is it off overseas. I think these GP's, especially the 360's, are sought by the well heeled Spainish enthusiasts.

Someone really wanted that Monty. My mate in California Mike Middleton has an even rarer blue tanked version that had previously lived for 30 years buried in a hedge. Ron Merrick from Lithgow also has a blue tanked 360. Penrith clubs Billy Brown has been successful for nearly two decades in pre 70 class on his 250 orange tanker, including winning the class against a class field including GE and Drakie at Ravenswood in '92 and repeating the win 10 years later in '02 at the same venue. They're a seriously cool bike in my humble and unbiased opinion. 8)

I met that Billy Brown at CD 4. What a nice bloke.
Billy's been a good mate and a stalwart of the NSW vintage movement since almost day one. He's one of the most popular and well known characters in the sport in this town and you're right, he can definitely punt the old Monty along pretty rapidly. His post race party reputation is also pretty formidable, and is known to be more than a tad cheeky after a few schooners. His Roy Orbison set with the post race banquet band at Condo in '97 has entered the annals of vintage history as one of the funniest and most entertaining things we've ever seen.

Didnt that H6 360,dressed as a Cappra with a KX front end sell on evilbey as well?Looked pretty tidy.Holeshot, one day you need to make a list of bikes you should have picked up at swaps but didnt for some reason,it would be an interesting read!Heard a story the other day about a mutual freind who let a Ossa Phantom go and shouldnt have.

I owed that bike, and sold it to Greame Dawe, the original owner was laurie Powell, he owned that bike from new here in Geelong and race it for years, and then the vintage started in 1990, and race it for a few season, he is well into his 70`s now, a very nice man. I found that bike in the next street behind my home. I hope it will be well looked after and it will be on display at the CLASSIC SCRAMBLE CLUB DISPLAY TENT AT broadford THIS EASTER.
