I'm guessing many of you have already seen this, but I thought I'd share it here anyway. Now, usually trying to modernise a vintage dirtbike just ends up looking poxy, but Bluehaze has really pulled it off in my opinion. Whaddya reckon?

Aw go on, it's not bad at all. Except for the yellow gaitors...
-
It's a lot better than most similar efforts.
The yellow fork boots don't offend me, but the blue lower legs do.
And those head-lights are just ugly, regardless of what sort of bike they're on.
The aftermarket tank seems to be made in WR blue rather than IT blue. And also a larger capacity (bigger hump). Interesting.

You know, it's embarrassing to admit this, but I have no style or design sense. I once revitalised my RM250Z by painting the frame and lower fork legs exactly that shade of blue. I topped that off with a sort of silver frost coloured expansion chamber. Sadly I have no pics to share... I did do better a few years later with a strange hybrid TT500 thing painted in fluoro yellow and pink. I actually have pics of that somewhere and could be convinced to scan them in just to show you how good that IT really is.

Sorry ,just pure classic pre 75 myself 8)

I think if you are gonna go that far you may as well just buy a late model 2t there's plenty about . Nah i dont like it and you can still buy those plastics .

Thats not new , thats not old, that bloke is confused :D
-
Gee you guys are old fuddy duddies; the IT looks fantasic 8). Stopped short, needs USD's and disc front and rear.Notwithstanding, great work, detailed, tasteful and skilled.
But when, if, he comes to sell it he will be saying 'Why?', he won't get his money back - if it, no pun intended ::) ;D, had been restored to the same standard I'm sure he would do a lot better with the dollars at resale.
But a great Bike, I would be proud to call it mine and to ride it ;) :) :D ;D.

something u could do with the yz250s frame and rear sus. i have in the shed!!
-
the tank i am pretty sure is a 15.1 liter one made for early 80's YZ 250, 465/490 or its a unversal 12.7 liter one like i have. not too bad. i would of used the fatter style fork boots which is what some IT's had anyway. not sure the yellow suits that blue. And also not quite a so modern head light, something more 80's'90's looking like a square Acerbis or UFO, Stilmotor or Cemoto one.

YUK!

Ive missed what was wrong with the old it's and i dont think that would help performance at all so i think its a waste of a good bike
-
it actually looks very much like a 1980's-early 90's DT 175 monoshock, i know someone who has one in that sort of blue and its the original colour. it has gold rims and i think has yellow fork boots too. interesting how all the IT' guys really seemed to like it and had positive comments. i think it needs some yellow 250 side cover stickers to balance it out a bit. it needs some more yellow other than the fork boots otherwise, make the fork boots black and have silver/bare alloy fork sliders.
i dont think there was anything wrong with the old IT Frosty, the owner just wanted to style it to HIS tastes. as long as hes happy thats all that should matter.
-
It's not really to my taste but I once raced a fluro pink '73 Maico so what do I know about taste? Seeing that he built it up from a piece of crap he's done a nice job. If I was going to modernise an IT (which I wouldn't) I'd be updating the forks and fitting disc brakes. Discs have been around since the mid 80's and are a cheap enough modification these days.
As nice as it is, Bluehazes IT is stuck in that no mans land between then and now.
-
thats fair enough Leith any one can do what they want with there bikes every one has different tastes i dont like it personally but you can see some of them do so thats great atleast i guess its something different for a change :)
-
Yeah, he built it to his own taste and is enjoying it, so good luck to him I say.
I think it looks ok anyway.

I'd be quite happy to put it in my shed.I prefer the darker blue to the old it blue.A few modern enhancements to stay competative with your mates in the bush!
