Santa has just dropped off this little beauty, cheap as chips.
Husky 82.5 500 CR ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
It should give those green 500s and the red ones some stick ;)
-
You're a lucky booger Pete. It's not often that Jonesy knocks back a rare one. The Silver Bullet is the Husky Holy Grail!
-
Nice bike pete
welcome to the 500 husky club :o :o :o
-
I dunno about it being the Husky holy grail , but they were definitely one of the prettiest Huskys ever built . Probably a candidate for the best looking mxer ever . They had a reputation for being hard to ride because of the savage power delivery due to the standard 44mm carb .
-
Firko,
I was lucky no doubt about that ;D, Thanks to Jonesy ;) putting me i contact with the guy selling it, it was still a mission to get all the details off the guy ??? but its all good now :D :D
-
No doubt about it, the Silver Bullet 500 is a pretty little thing. This bike has been known to us for a few weeks as it was offered to Alan Jones by a client of his. Thankfully for Pete he has too many bikes on the boil at present (and it's a 2 stroke) so Pete was his first choice as a new owner. Anybody who's seen his Huskys will know this rarity has gone to the best home it could wish for. This particular bike is reputed to be the very bike Swedish works rider Leif Nickolsen rode at the Amaroo International meeting in '82. The're maybe not the Holy Grail but they are definitely on a lot of peoples wish list. I've already bagged first ride!

It will tear the front number plate off a 490 Maico, 500 Kawa, 450 Honda. ;) ;) ;)

Yes but it won't touch a CR500 Honda Sport! ;D

Not bad, not bad at all. But not a patch on the black and gold with the classic 'breadbox' shaped Husky tank.

I must admit, the silver one does it for me. The problem with yours Pete, there seems to be something missing, LIKE A MOTOR. Do you need a rider?
-
(http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2007-4/1252864/Picture177.jpg)
Here is a picture of Baron Von Woolywobbler's (Barronvmx) CR500 at CD5 (only missing the sidepanel decals). It seemed to go pretty much un-noticed , but I thought that it was one of the better looking bikes ( along with the '77 Montesa VB360 ) on display that weekend . Then again , my taste in bikes isn't exactly mainstream . The Honda CR250RA in the picture behind the Husky was really good too .

I think you have exceptionally Good Taste ;) ;D.
-
Yep , that was the one . I think that bike was a peach & un-restored , I believe , as well . I don't know my Montys that well , but the only things I noticed missing were the gold paint & Marzocchi decals on the fork legs . The owner has similar taste to me , as I really like Can Am Sonics as well .
Sorry that I strayed off the Silver Bullet thread .
-
The Monty VB360 and C-A Sonic are owned by Dean Rowe from the Hunter Valley. He races both bikes pretty hard too.
Dean owned the Alron at CD4.
-
Magoo,
The guy has the motor in bits, so with a bit of luck it should be ready early next year. ;). You will have to tighten your sphinter muscles when you ride it. ;D ;D ;D
-
Andrews,
Nice work dont let that Honda luvvin nancy boy magoo on it he will leave some sort of deposit on the tank or seat after he has felt that 500 Husky power!!!

-

-
Damo,
How are you pet? the last time I saw you was at the wheel of the Magoo mobile whilst I was tag team wrestling with eight other maniacs in the back!
Truth is I could start the 500 after I found that I hadnt tightened the plug and put the cap on correctly....it makes a difference to how it starts! and Stef needed some more pain after he got over the cut arm and the collar bone so its gone back to him for a while, where were you for the Wollongong SX Stefan and Hans were there Stefan and I got on it........unusual that happened anyway got to meet the man Chad and he signed my Motorex hat...still sleeping with the hat.
Merry Xmas and a happy New Year Damo and all the other VMX boys and their families.

Harro, you old skallywag, are the rumours true that you've got rid of 'Death Wish 1 ' AGAIN!!!. Talk about a love tugawar between you and Big Kev over her affections! ::) She'd have to be the most swapped Bandito in the sport!.....Feliz Navidad to you and yours too big guy!

Merry Xmas to you too mate, sorry I missed the SuperX but I was wrapping up the Heaven club championship that weekend or something ???
We might catch up soon for beer at Shoey's or Magoo's
Take it easy,
Damo

He is a brave man starting that 500 Husky in the U tube clip . forked if I would try & start mine only wearing sandshoes . I normally try to latch it so the kickstart lever is up high & then give it one big kick with the full arc of the lever .
-
Harro
Matttttttttttttttttte , gee , I have missed your offbeat sense of humour.
Sorry i never got to roost you on the 500 Husky you had for a short time , but you never know , if i can go that slow maybe i can roost your suzuki at a later date. Maybe just bring it to the gathering and we can throw mud and rocks at it.
Drinks and food at our place in the new year. Date to be confirmed , all the usual crew will hopefully be in attendance.
Should be more fun than last time.

The eagle has landed. The Silver Bullet proved to be as good, if not better than expected according to Husky 67. Even better news is the other rare item found in the blokes shed when Both Husky 61 & 67 went to pick up the bullet. Negotiations start first thing Monday.
-
Some rare pommy thing :o right up Firko's alley.
;D White pre 85,twin shock,big bore four stroke ;D
-
got be cheney or something for firko
-
Rumour has it Firko has done the deal, and he is happy as a pig in shit ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Nice buy
-
Rare white British big bore pre '85 twinshock fourstroke ? Sounds interesting . The only thing I can think of is a 4 valve CCM .
-
What about one of those Armstrongs, didn't they have a Rotax 4 stroke motor?
-
I think Armstrong took over from Can Am ( including the Sonic ) in about '83 or '84 . The only thing is , I think that they were all single shock bikes .
-
All way off.....A genuine Walkinshaw Jaguar XJS. It's a holy grail kinda thing!

I found one of them there holy grail ones once too... ;)
-
Which grail is harder to find? The Jag or the E49?
Cheers,
K
-
To my limited knowledge the standard version of both the Jag and the Charger aren't especially rare. I've got a base model XJS and I wouldn't be surprised if a base model Charger or two have passed through Mopar HQ at E74s place.
The E49 and Walkinshaw are a hell of a lot rarer though. I'm not sure of the number of E49s produced but I reckon that "not many" would be an apt number. Ditto with the Walkinshaws. They are so rare as for me to admit that I've only ever seen two in the flesh and one of them was a convertible. A very small number were made for homologation purposes to legitimise the specs for Group A touring car racing. As much as I like E74s E49 and openly admit that it's an extremely rare and cool unit and that it'd probably whoop the Jag in a drag race, I think the Walkinshaw Jag would be a fair bit rarer but the Charger worth a fair bit more.
Below, my "normal" XJS with Jonesys '69 Mustang. Compare the body kit differences between mine and the Walkinshaw.

Hey E74.....As our resident Mopar guy, I have some stuff for sale that you may be interested in. I've got a basket case 413 big block Max Wedge engine that is fitted with the factory "pink" camshaft and the good rods and steel crank. The engine is siezed in the bores from sitting for years with water in the cylinders but everything except the bore and pistons may be usable. The engine's apart but is all there including heads, cast iron inlet manifold, alternator, starter, manual flywheel and most everything else.
It's rough but is a good starter as Max Wedge 413 engines are quite rare. It should bore to 4.25 which would give you a 426, just like the old Ramchargers.
I also have a bell housing to suit a top loader (gearbox sold), VH-CM front crossmember modified to take the big block, and big block tailshaft to suit VH ute. This stuff has been in my shed for 25 years and is left overs from a 440 VH ute project.
I'm simplifying my shed contents and as I doubt that I'll ever build a big block anything again, this stuff has to go. If you or anybody is interested, please make me an offer. I don't want to get rich off the proceeds, I just need to make more room.
Sorry to hijack the Silver Bullet Husky thread but this just came to mind so I figured now is as good a time as any to offer this stuff up to the Mopar fiends on the forum! Now...where were we? Oh yeah, Petes new Husky!
-
I got thrown off track with my guess of what the big white beast was , because of the bogus clue that said it was a twinshock :) . It's a quad-shock :D . Old mate that lives down the road from me had a E55 (?) Charger with a 340 Hemi V8 motor . Is a E55 rarer than a E49 ?
-
It's actually six shock. there are 2 on each side on the rear end!
-
Firko, the word is out!!!!!!!!

When I was living in the US back in the 70's my best mate had a yellow 351 Torino GT. I used to borrow it from time to time and liked it a lot. This thread and the previous forum cars thread really shows that VMX guys also have an eclectic and cool love of classic cars as well. A sometime contributor on this forum also owns a similar 'Vette to yours Holeshot. I'll let him tell us about it if he wants us to know. Good stuff.
